My Cars Been Cloned?

Had a phone call off my insurance company today, saying another insurance company has got intouch apart me crashing into someone 2 weeks ago... said it was at Barnsley Bridge (never heard of the place) at a carboot sale carpark, and i T-Boned someone.

But they went on to tell me that the name given to the 3rd party was Mr Briggs... Which definately isnt me.

My car is never driven by anyone but me, especially when the brakes are naffed...

They said the bloke had give them his details, but not said his insurance company, so the 3rd party took the numberplate and then my insurance company got in touch with me...

All i can think of, is my cars been cloned...

Definately not mine thats cloned, i have the log book, and FSH for the car roflcopter.com.org.spunk.

So, what else could it be?

surely if the go back to the people who are claiming, ask if its a 306 (which is what you drive iirc) and they say its any thing but a 306 then your fine.

Possible that they wrote the number plate down wrong? With all the shock of the crash?


Similar cars have similar plates with just a few numbers different, so that's a possibility.

go to the ring the dvla, give them your numberplate, and see who the keeper come up with.

maybe the other 306, took your number plate details and the car is identical, but if you checked the chasis numbers theyd be different.

My dad got a letter off the police not long ago for driving without due care and attention when someone in a simular car to his reversed into a parked car and drove off.
A neighbour had written the reg down wrong as my dads but he was able to prove he wasnt there at the time as it was about 60miles away and he was at work at the time if that helps

If the car had changed keeper, i would get a letter saying it had changed from me.
Will be someone who has stole a car, banged my plate on, and sold it on, il put money on it... Not alot i can do really, other than wait for the police to find it and crush it one day

You on any other owners club would be quite easy to clone cars deatils from there id imagine.
