Hi

My front brake pads have finally reached the 3mm level, so I'm going to swap them out in the next few days. Can anyone point me in the direction (if they exist) of some good pads, which will give better braking than the stock pads, but aren't too much more expensive. Or would the stock pads just be a good bet? Its only a 1.1 Mk2 Desire, and everything is stock from the original purchase of the car.

I've done a bit of research myself, but reading manufacturers sales reviews is a bit different to actually hearing it from people who have used them :)

all depends on how your drive, standard pads would be surfice but if you wanted something a bit better the ds2500 or green stuff.

Yeah, I'd looked at the ds2500 based ones after reading the FAQ in this section.. They seem substantially more expensive than the stock ones though? Saxo brakes just seem a bit lackluster and I'd like to sharpen them up a bit. I guess replacing with stock pads, and some new brake fluid could do the job though?

Other things you may wish to consider to sharpen up the feel of the brakes would be, VT calipers, VTR Master Cylinder, Braided lines, Higher quality fluid, adjusting the pedal, etc, etc.

If you check my forsale thread Im actually selling a set of Mintex m1144 pads which will fit straight on your car. Im also selling a pair of brembo grooved discs, and some standard discs aswell. Link to progress thread can be found in my sig.:y:

Any questions, please feel free to ask. ;)

34 more posts and I might take a look at the FS thread :D

I'll look into the rest of it though.. I hadnt really thought that much about it - it had just been the pads as thats what I needed :) I don't want to pour too much more money into the car, but brakes and being able to stop quicker are something I wouldnt mind too much :D
