As some of you know i moved from hot hatchs a while ago when i braught my coupe.
Basicully i see vts's and 172's etc all the time and miss the giggles they give as a lot of us have which went back to hh's after "proper" cars like bmw's, scoobys to name a few.
Drove a mates clio last night and can honstly say i couldnt get back in the bm fast enough.. i know my cars obv not standard but the driving position and just feel of the car was nothing like i remember relly disapointed me.
Just wondered how many of you lads have gone back to hh's then within a month or so regreted it???
And a cheeky shot of my coupe. Would anyone of you go back to a hatch in my position????

Some people don't like the driving position in the Clios but I found it ok going from a Vts to a 172. Yes the build quality is a bit flaky, rattles, things falling off etc but that's French cars for you. Also depends what you want the car for.
Not quite sure what you're asking tbh but surely you'd consider something like an Audi S3 or a hot Golf which are both of far better quality.

i have driven the latest 330, it was like a bardge, couldnt get back into the saxo quick enough.
But thats just me, i had a z4m, but sold it as it didnt tickle me in the way i thought it would, i hope to get an elise or exige soon.
Edit: with reference to "proper" cars wtf???

405 gti? If so progress thread?
If you love your car enough no other car will really compare. Whether its a 1.0 ax or an exige.
It depends what you want a car for; if you can put up with less room, a lighter more nimble vehicle then go back to a hot hatch. But if you like the rwd and the power delivery of the bimmer then stick with it :y:

I put "proper" car in the little things for that reason, most people see larger coupes or loons as more of a car.
I considered when my insurance is up putting it on compertion insurance, you get limitess mods and iirc upto 10 trackdays a year. Then getting an vts, cup, vr6 or an eg b18c.
I have always wanted a clio cup they seem to be well known as the "new vts" it just relly disapointed me how high i sat in the car felt like i was going to fall out the window before i even start of the feed back threw the pedals and steering. The coupe just feels more settled i surpose if i spent as much money on a HH id get a similar feel as my coupe.
EDIT: local lad to me jsut braught him self a elise 135r iirc things awsome around the bendys nothing compares to elises/caterhams.

to be honest i drove my mum loen cupra and it felt boring, there not the rattle and bangs that keep you awake in the saxo.. saxo are nimble and fun to drive i love my vts however will be going for a scooby evo when around 23/24 cheaper insurance

I would stick with the BMW but what is up with that exhaust man lol? It is awful :(

my mate drove my vtr last night and it was convincing him to buy a saxo as it handles like shit to a blanket. He couldn't believe that a FWD car handles so well.

TBH it all depends what you want from a car!?
I got the Porsche as a toy tourer for me and the family. Yeah i miss the cheeky handeling of the Saxo but the overall comfort and speed of the Porsche makes me happy, and I know I could happily drive it for as long as my credit card would put fuel in it.

Its a difficult one to answer :S I mean that everyone likes a change but then also dwells on their past experiences. I wouldnt go back no but then i dont think ill ever have a coupe unless its a company car etc I generally love HH n though may be a fad for me atm i cant see me out growing them :)

I spend most of my day driving a 7.5t DAF LF45 truck. Just like this one actually
http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o32/fergie76/DSC00237.jpg
and afterwards I can't wait to get into my car, the wife's car or even slip on my trainers and walk home. It's that bloody uncomfortable.

It's not just their cars. My truck is built by Frenchman and you've described it perfectly :y:

You'll miss the beemer if you do. But then again you will have that cheeky chirpy character from a small french hatch which you don't get out of more serious cars.

I went from a VTR to a 325 coupe and then back to a VTR.
I loved my first VTR, and I loved the beemer, and when I went back to the VTR I hated it, felt like I was sitting on the deck and it squeaked and rattled more than my old one did. Also the pedals and gearbox felt different to my old one, but I just put that down to Mk1 vs Mk2. I still miss the beemer to this day, was an awesome motor but I had to sell it to free up some cash. IMO don't sell it unless you have to or you are going for another big car.

HAHA! Exactly the same, i kept think i want a HH, i want a HH, after id had the beemer for a while, then i drove my old saxo just before i sold it and my god it felt f*cking awful! from the driving position to the amount of room you get, to the sound system and even the way it handles pot holes and bumps! hence why im thinking of having one solely as a track toy rather than a road car.

i had a bmw 330 and i missed the hothatch feel! the bm was to big for me and felt clumsy! i searched around for the ultimate hothatch and came up with the clio v6 and the golf r32 but i didnt want to go back to something french!
so went for the R32. and very pleased with it!

Quite a few of my mates have r32's very nice cars but not relly the same league as a saxo/clio or civic imo :P
Id class the golfs esp the r32's closer to the 3 series etc. Even in numpty hands a mk5 r32 can see 9.3x's around the ring. Never thaught of a mk4 r32 with those recaros mmmmm.

The noise of a Golf R32- sexual. Still quite pricey though, probably because they're a sought after model. Not as quick as I first thought they'd be having played with a few, but still they're definately rapid enough.

personally I found the R32 to be a bit slow.
I own a 3 series beemer and its a very good car, but when I drive an old hothatch like a 205, I remember why I still smile every time I see one. I'm actually restoring a 205 to use as a runaround instead.

Respect for going old school. Its true that they don't make them like that anymore. Back in the day it was you, the wheel and the road, and they felt so much better for it.

On road i strongly feel a hh is "more fun" cant strech bigger cars legs properly without being dangerous. Ive driven 205 git's but never owned one.. love too though at some point.
But once on track i wouldnt swop my e36 for anything it all comes togther. Been looking at eg civics all morning why are hatchs so cheap to buy and mod i could build a nice eg for the same price as jsut buying my Kw clubsports :panic:

EG civics are like the 205s of JDM. Just old school fun, no electronics to get in the way. Install a b16b or b18c, or if funds allow a K20a and you'll have an absolute little 8500rpm monster.

Very pricey and you can get a good Mk5 Gti for the same money.

I wouldnt go back if i was you.
I had a vts for ages and then a 306gti6 and now i have got a subaru impreza wrx i wouldnt go back to a hot hatch again. The vts and the gti6 were both fun to drive but you cant compare the two.I know that i would get bored very quick if i did buy a hh again.
Love the power of the wrx.
