Looking at getting monitor for Ps3 so the mrs can have the lounge back and i can settle in spare room with no interruptions! seem to get more for your money buying a hd monitor than hd tv and got a budget approx £200. these are the shortlist so far but feel free to recommend anything:-

What about something like this?
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/9404087/LG-22-M227WD-HD-1080p-Freeview-Widescreen-LCD-TV/Product.html
22" Full HD Panel
2xHDMI
1XDVI
1xVGA
Plus a digital TV tuner :D
£199 from play - I think you can get it cheaper if you search elsewhere, but I've not used any of them really before, so I wouldnt want to link to them without trying them first :)

Just buy any monitor that has a DVI port, then buy yourself a DVI to HDMI adaptor (cheap as chips). Most monitors these days are digital (DVI) so you can go wild and buy anything lol! The bigger the better though ;)
EDIT: Not sure if Playstation have the same thing, but you can buy a lead to plug directly into your xbox and into a VGA monitor. The lead is like £15 from game. I'm sure PS have something similar :)
Oh and if you go for an actual Monitor/LCD tv, you will end up paying more as they general have a tv tuner built in... I take it you won't need that, right?

this is what i went for and for the money its awesome, they had it on display with other tvs and it was just as good as some around the £900 mark.

Not 1080p and poor contrast ratio. Glad I spent another £200 on that to get my LG bay boy

yeh is cheap but resolution not 1080 so not true HD. got a sony bravia 32" which is 720p so wanna get a proper 1080 screen.
the LG looks alright though, but im just thinking with the contrast the dell is 80,000 where as LG 20,000 ... so the picture according to that should be better on the dell... but whether to can actually see the difference is another story. plus their both the same price but dell you pay delivery.

dvi is good but mine never carryed sound just HD signal
so if your looking at DVI HD pc monitors then youll need to look in to a sound set up as well
i ran mine though the monitor then ran the sound though pc input then a creative labs pc set up didnt sound to bad in 2.1
buy a decent sized HD tv and youll have sound and 1080p cant go wrong
just my 2p
