i have a westie, which is surprisingly fast for a 1.4.
and my sister has just bought a mk6 fezzy 1.4, and it is slow as fuck.
and my mate has a 1.4 corsa and that isnt any where as quick as the saxo...
he recks someone has put a VTR engine in my car at some point, but i dont think so.

its because fezzas are heavy as fook.
Fiesta - Minimum Kerbweight 966kg - http://www.buyacar.co.uk/ford_fiesta_hatchback/car_14_zetec_3dr_4737.jhtml
compared to the kerbweight of 860kg on your saxo - http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=78122

also mate newer cars have electronic throttle pedals now.
my c2 has the same engine as my old 1.4 saxo and its shit slow compared.
and reading up n the c2 owners and its all down to cable throttle on the saxo and electronic on the c2.
im actually thinking of doing a cable setup as i dont fancy paying £200 for a sprint boother.

agreed my mums got the new corsa 1.4 think its 16v aswel it feels as slow as !
Also MGZRs are 1.4 16v and a 103BHP and they seem slower....

Due to weight, the 16v engines will have more in gear pull at speed. And they have a slight chance of survival in a crash whereas you dont lol.
Youll have a lot more fun getting there than they will though ;)

yer but havent R5GT got a turbo? so that doesnt count really!
and you are right, i had a little drag with a MGZR and whooped its ass, so makes me think saxo's are just that little bit faster.
they are obviously light as fuck coz they are make out of tin foil, good for speed, shit for crashes!
plus i doubt they have many safety precautions as newer cars, which is all down to weight aswel

sorry i wouldnt lower myself to driving a punto on purpose!
a girl at work has got one, and i drove it a few times... god its horrid to drive. feels like it is going to roll over everytime you corner. they are far too high.
where as a saxo is low, and feels wide, where as the punto's seem to be a bit top heavy if you know what i mean!
its like trying to corner in a skyscraper!

oh yer, not disputing that, my mate had one and said they are ok. but they are an iconic fast little car. but thats what happens when you slam a turbo in a car the size of a shoe!

hmmmmm, they may not handle well but lowering yourself from a saxo to a punto? i don't see that as lowering yourself, more sidestepping i'd say.

What about starlet turbo's. They're only 1.3's. Same with charades but they're only 1 litres.

would you say a T reg punto 1.4 is a step up from a T reg saxo? haha, fuck that!
god i hate punto's... infact i hate fiats in general. they only make shit cars... in my opinion.

no i wouldn't say its a step up, i wouldn't say its a step down either though. they are both equally as shit as each other, therefore making it a sidestep.

turbos as ever mate. The charades are only 3 cylinders as well.
Boost is nice and easy to get power from!

puntos are shit, and nothing compared to a saxo tbh
they look shit, handle shit and brake more..
yes 1.4 saxos are quick for 'what they are' but i wouldn't say there quick at all, ull notice this when u make the step up to a more powerful car

well i know they arent "fast" they are quick... for what they are. i would class them as "pokey"
i have driven all sorts of cars, golf GTi's, audi A4 quatro's, my dads AMG merc... my dads saab 93 turbo... so i know that the 1.4 saxo's are not fast by any standard. but they hold there own...
