golf diesel tbh, you'll love the economy + give it a remap and it will be fairly quick too

i would say golf, but having looked into getting them they are fairly expensive to buy. for a 51 plate you are looking from anything between 2k-3k and most likely have high miles. the focus however would be cheaper to buy but focus's dont seem to be that fuel efficent. the gold does look better though

yeh i wouldnt mind paying extra for a golf, as they will be worth more when icome to sell,( i think)
any ideas how much my standard 03 desire 1.1 would be worth. (47k)

I bought mine last year just before the recession. Paid £1300 plus an extra £300 to get a new door sprayed/fitted.
Would be lucky to get £800 for it now. It's an 02 reg, 85k, FSH etc. etc.

Focus will be a fuck load more fun. They handle stupidly well out of the box. Golfs dont, non GTI/R versions anyway. Body roll without stability

I never knew foc was 1.6 zetec. Thanks for clearing that up :y:

Focus 1.6 will be pretty numb though. Golf will be built much better and will be a much better day to day drive
btw can get 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 zetecs in the Focaii

so which is quicker golf a gti petrol or a tdi ?
Marcos
3rd October 2009, 18:22
well the petrol vs diesel 150bhp, the petrol is faster by 0.1 second but the gti will out handle the diesel as i dotn think think they have the sports supension but a remap will take both to 190bhp

With a decent remap the TDi.
There is already tests to prove it. More torque etc............

the petrols remap higher i can map mine up to 215bhpish on stage one but a tdi will normally only map up to around 190bhp

BHP doesnt determine how fast it will go. The TDi produces more torque ;)
Marcos

yeah torque dont mean much from standing start and and the 150 diesel alredy gives more torque and you gain more torque mapping a petrol than a diesel going revo route

Deffo the golf! Better build quality, more comforatable, better on fuel! and with a remap enough power to keep anyone smiling chuck some lowering springs on to sort the roll out! (and a bigger turbo if you want :P ;))
the only focus worth goin for is the 1.8 or 2.0 i found my mates 1.6 was slugish (cudda bin his drivin tho haha) and the 1.4....... No point talking bout that one :P

hmmm, well standing quarter was slower, and top speed was less! :homme:
But the puls in 3rd and 4th :y: I love more torques :P
Marcos

its had over twice the money spent on it so not reall fair tests and it wont be running there 200bhp estimate will be more lol, will go liek stink tho the diesels are boring to drive though

I've been in both
The Golf is a safe car, just not my type of car, still nice, my mate had a 110 GT TDI MK4 and that was nice.
Focus..i'd be looking at the 1.8, only insurance group 7!
I'd get the focus..you'll be paying 2,500 for a Mk4 Golf on about 150k maybe on a V plate.
the only focus worth goin for is the 1.8 or 2.0 i found my mates 1.6 was slugish (cudda bin his drivin tho haha) and the 1.4....... No point talking bout that one :P
Defo stay away from the 1.4! Their slow and fuel wise even worse
