I've got a 2001 VTR and my ABS warning light has come on, and stayed on... I thought VTR's didn't even have ABS! Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Well it's labelled as an ABS warning light in the manual, and it **looks** like the ABS warning light I had on my 406 SRi.. :-) But I've never noticed having ABS on the Saxo while driving on ice this winter. Strange!

pick up some speed then slam your brakes on! then you will know for sure! lol. i didnt think the vtr had abs tho, unless it was an optional extra?

if it is the ABS light I had the same problem with my VTS and it was diagnosed in Citroen and they said the machine they use didn't signal any error's with the wiring etc. Then the battery was disconnected over night and when the battery was put back in the ABS light switched off and now it's back to normal and has been like this for a few months. Try disconnecting the battery for a while to let all the electrics re-set themselves smileys/smiley17.gif

Thanks for the help there, I will try that as I have just paid £35 for my garage to plug in the magic diagnostic machine only to say they can't get any readings so they think the full circuit is up the stick... and they are refusing to touch a job like that!

Yeah I thought that Darryl. It's one of the rare ones that came factory fitted with ABS as an option.
Turned out to be the nearside front sensor that was fooked (after they warned me it could have been the main circuit and a main dealer job....) and cost me £150 to fix.

yes it stays on my vtr to but dont piss about with it coz u could make ur airbag go off.

But if it's on you fail your MOT, another fine way to put money in the garages' pockets... I didn't even realise I had ABS till it failed cos I'd not tried braking hard :-)

Bull crap, the airbag is on a totally different circuit.
Fiddling with ABS will not cause an airbag to deploy.
ABS faults are normally just the sensors and they are directly on the wheel hub. I had same problem in my VTS, turned out to be near side sensor.
