Well me and our kid got another car booked in for a full exterior detail and interior valet...a black range rover.
We popped up a few nights ago to have a quick look over it and see how the land lied, first thoughts were it wasnt too bad (however the light wasnt great, and the car was wet), but upon inspection when we got there today it was ALOT worse than we first thought.
The owner lives off an farm track so the car goes up a muddy, gravel path with bushes and branches hanging over parts of the drive leading to the house (so as he says, "when the wife has been driving it up there its got it in a bit of a state"), the car is also used to take two dogs around so the interior was very dirty...and 'hairy' lol.
At the minute its hard for us to show conditions of paint before we start as we dont have a light gun, but areas were badly swirled, with tree sap and bird crap etched onto the paint, lots of marring and a few rds (random deep scratches) here and there that we managed to remove, reduce and/or correct.
heres some pics of it before:

The process & products used:
~ Pre wash foamed using Chemical guys maxi suds (A healthy coating was needed!)
~ Rinsed
~ Wheels sprayed with bilberry wheel cleaner and the intrecate parts cleaned with a valet pro wheel brush, the faces of the spokes cleaned with a sponge
~ Washed with dodo juice born to be mild shampoo and 2 x mitts & buckets with grit guards
~ Rinsed & Dried
~ Full car then clayed with bilt hamber smooth finish clay (we went for a harder grade of clay as we knew there was alot of contaminates to lift off) clay after bonnet:

Clay after wings:

~ Rinsed & Dried
~ Taped up with 3m tape
~ Areas fully covered with the meguairs g220 polisher with 3m compound & compound pad, the smalled areas covered with a flexi pad spot pad with 3m compound, and the odd tiny area which could not be reached with the machine polisher was hit with AG SRP.
~ Once those stages had all been taken off it was then covered with the 3m ultra polish and polishing pad
~ Once taken off the car was then given a full coat of valet pro artimus wax (we went for this as its easy to work with, long lasting, and gives off very good results in terms of the finish, as good as some waxes costing more than twice the price!)
~ Again once taken off another full coat was put on.
~ All lights cleaned & polished
~ The rims where then treated to a generous coat of Poor boys wheel sealant, and the tires dressed with meguairs endurance gel
~ All glass (inside and out) was taken care of with AG fast glass
~ Interior was fully hoovered, mats taken out and brushed then hoovered.
~ Dash, door cards and all other plastics treated with poorboys natural look dressing
~ All door shuts washed & polished with AG SRP

We were very very pleased with the finished outcome as was the owner.
Black cars are WIN after a detail and some of the reflections at times in the sun were amazing!
Comments welcome
