I've been to a local ford garage and got a great deal on a '53 reg fiesta 1.3 in metallic red, smileys/smiley4.gif so i'm very happy.

Managed to blag 2yrs extra warranty from them, and lots of extras like new tyres, free MOTs etc. They gave me £1300 for the sax, which i was quite pleased about.

Will post pics up when i get the car on friday!

Excellent. I quite like the new shape Fiestas and even more so in red.

What model is it?

It's a finesse, a fairly basic spec for insurance purposes, but it does have a few more mod cons than the sax, such as ABS, c/locking, e/windows etc etc.

Its 16v engine is fairly nippy too!

And yes, it's pepper red, which is a very good colour smileys/smiley4.gif

£1300 for a mark2 saxo?

Bloody hell, you'd of been better giving it them for free.

depends what engine it was though - if it was a 1.1 thats good money on a trade in!

Yeah, but i think she would have got a good few hundred quid more selling it private.

I'd say atleast £1700 on a 1.1 mark2 saxo.

yeah but saxos are hardly flying off the shelfs are they, if i was offered a good trade in on mine id rather do that than wait around for someone to buy it and then go back to garage and find out that the car i wanted has been sold

they ripped you off £1300 for a mark 2 saxo

they didnt rip her off in the slightest

trade in prices are never what the car is worth or will sell for

I remember when my mum got her brand new corsa sxi, she traded in a 406 estate & she actually got more for it then she paid for it & had owned it for about 6 months, then my dad went & got a shit load of extra's thrown in.

Surely with abit of negotiation (sp) you could have got abit more for it.

I bet they put it up for sale at about £1,900.

sounds good Lozi. Hope you stay within the Sax-P community smileys/smiley17.gif

Would like to have ABS on mine too. Pepper red is also a nice colour smileys/smiley2.gif

When you trade in a car they grade it as "clean" or "average" or "poor," it's a universal sytem that all garages use - well £1300 was above the "clean" (which was £1250 for my 1.0 base model sax with average miles.)

So i don't think i was 'done' at all - and yatesy's right, really didn't need the hassle of a private sale.

Pics will arrive when i collect the car on friday smileys/smiley4.gif

I don't think you was done either.

End of day, selling a car private takes time advertising it, answering questions and showing people round it.

I would rather take a drop in price for the car so i can get rid of it.

thats a good price mate for trade. i work at a ford garage doing sales and that seems a fair price.

i agree you have been ripped off there mate! that is nothing for a mk2 saxo, which in my opinion is way nice than a fiesta even if it is a 1.1.

she got ripped off but thats what all the garages would of done.

she could have earned more money out of it but dececided that getting rid at a stupid price was better for some reason

she only got what she should expect from a garage.

i believe the comments below relate to every point in your post:

right what does it really matter, if other people think it was a rip off let it be. She doesnt think she was ripped off thats all that matters.

Well, i've picked it up...and yes leckie it was very clean and shiny! smileys/smiley17.gif

I parked the sax next to the fiesta, and took the opportunity to take some pics in the sunshine.

The bloody 'image upload' button won't work for me (as usual) so once again it'll have to be web-linked - if anyone's looked at them and can get their image upload to work, feel free to put them on this post!

More later, time for tea!

Thanks baz smileys/smiley10.gif - i'm rather pleased with that middle photo!

It drives like a dream...i discovered i was doing 75mph in a 60 limit without realising! Was sad to let 'Jean The Saxo' go though... smileys/smiley19.gif

17's lower it 40mm and colour code...

Just kidding looks nice smileys/smiley4.gif altho is crying out for some new rims or trims which everh

lozi_murias
11th February 2006, 00:45
Oh yeah i know...the trims suck so badly, gross! smileys/smiley11.gif

Would love some nice big alloys but i've just spent a lot of money on the actual car! Lowering is virtually impossible too because Northampton is the official home of the speed bump.

Annoyed too 'cos my alloy aerial won't fit smileys/smiley13.gif

Oh well, better save up my pennies for those wheels!

lol al....click on my links you numpty!

I've just found a whacking great scratchy scuff-mark down the sideskirt-bit, smileys/smiley3.gif so i've taken it back to the garage and they're getting rid of that too.

I think you'd find the colour a lot nicer in real life dan, my pictures don't do it any credit! Each to their own i guess. smileys/smiley17.gif
