My birthday was today (yay for me :P) and my step dad is a examiner for the driving instructors, so he tests the people that test everyone else. Anyway, as a birthday present he paid for my advanced driving course, which is both good and bad as I was hoping he would pay for my CBT instead but never mind.

So I put it to all the non boyracers of Sax-P. Has anyone else taken this? Anyone thought about it? The good and bad points?

Discuss basically... :p

I did. Piece of piss not sure if its changed insurance too much as I never checked before i did it. It has made me more confident and I feel a better driver.

Fairly sure thats pass plus. Too many different people to go through for that to be true.

Well I start mine in November, looking forward to the skid pan now :)

- apologies for bumping an old thread but I'm also pretty curious about this.

I've been checking out all the info here -- http://www.iam.org.uk/
I'm too lazy to call and ask my current insurer. Does anyone know if it really makes a worthwhile impact on your insurance premium???

Most insurers is 10% which is about the same price as the test... waste of time and money

So I guess you could save over the long-term.

So I guess the main benefit would be the right to undisputably state that you're a more accomplished driver than [insert girlfriends name here].

Awesome... but still probably not worth the £160 odd.

I know for a while round here if you did it you could claim half the cost back. Making it £80ish. Not sure if they do it in other places though.

Edit:

Was thinking of Pass Plus.

did passplus but never bothered really with any ADI stuff as i was trained by an top ADI Police officer.

Sounds good if most people did this.

i think anything that can improve you as a driver is a good thing tbh....Going through mine at the moment - the old man is teaching me all the police driving stuff, so should be a breeze, just need to put in for a test....

The normal driving test was stressful enough. No way I'd pay even more to put myself through extra unnecessary stress. :|

Was very straight forward, didn't have to do a great deal. My insurance was no different.
