How do insurers check you do the job you say ?

They dont, they go on what you tell them.

However, in the event of a claim arising or anything like that and they find out that you have lied, your insurance is technically void.

You are in a mutual agreement by which you agree to "Upmost Good Faith", basically meaning you will answer anything the insurer needs fully and to your best of your knowledge.

If they found out you lied, your policy would be cancelled and then you would have a cancellation against you, which also makes it harder to get insurance and if you manage to, the premium will be a lot higher.

Not worth it really?
