Going round a corner at about 20-25 and hear a nasty grinding noise, stop and jump out and heres my spare wheel lying in the middle of the road!

Had to spend ten minutes scrabbling about on the soaking road in the rain looking for the hook that holds the cage to the car, eventually found it and spend ages getting it screwed back on and eventually got home. All of this in a lovely white tshirt that is now almost black

check your spare everyone

That was a common fault on Saxos a few years back...

The threads used to strip off the threaded clamp... Citroen were selling extra security items to hold them on!

Could have been nasty though.. very nasty!

luckily the thread wasnt stripped just managed to work its way lose.

just lucky it was that bit later (midnight-ish) cos that road is usually really busy and that spare wheel with the jack sitting in it could have made a right mess of anyones car that was following me. Wonder if i would have been liable if anyone had been there and driven into it

Do the sensible thing and lose your spare wheel and cage, just buy a can of tyre weld from Halfords or somewhere and keep that in your glovebox.

and what if i get a puncture in the side wall of the tyre or the puncture is bigger than just a nail hole say a gash or so, then tyre weld is completely useless and most places will tell you where to stick your tyre when you come to get a puncture repaired as is full of all the gung pish and tyres are not cheap.

Not meaning to sound nasty but thats the way i see it anyway

Yeah, I thin ka lot of peeps would be fcukjed if they got a puncture...

I still carry my spare, which means I also have to carry for original bolts, as the blts with my 17's would be too long!

It'd be pretty fucked up driving around with a 14" spare and 3 17" alloys...

Oh AND, I cant fit a 14" wheel on the front cos of my larger brakes...

Hassle!!!
