fired up my laptop before coming to work tonight to check my e-mail. got one from ebay saying my invoice for the past month was due which confused me a little... lately been selling a load of stuff to clear my garages and and room of crap that im never going to use.

little did i know that 'final value' fees of 10% apply to everything ive sold on ebay! (think that its capped at £20 per item but still)

needless to say i've now got a bill for £86! (admittedly that does include initial listing fees of £30). no wonder the planet is becoming one huge landfill site... from now on im just gonna dump stuff if i cant give it away to friends/family. By the time i pay to list it, hope it sells for a decent amount, package, physically take the stuff to the post office, and pay to send it. ive probably made a few quid if that!

:wall: not happy to say the least.

anyone else regularly sell stuff on ebay that gets caught out too?

I bought some stuff really cheap on eBay a while ago to sell. I've actually made a loss on a couple of items due to the cost of listing the auction, adding pictures to it and then the cost of postage.

ebay took £20 out my bank account without even letting me know and it took me past my limit which then cost me further

funny you mention this I litrally only just 10mins ago paid my fee's

£23.86

thing is I listed all my items on a Ebay special 1 day listings fee free day 13th last month though lol.

so im puzzled to why im been charged when I read the terms and conditions and I followed it to the TEE! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

EDIT: think I get it though. they let me put up some ads for free (on the special day) but take 10% away from final sale price. Hmm they may aswell always allow users to put up ads full stop as it seems they will just make money from you on final sales instead.

one word

this is why i no longer sell on ebay and also why i always try and contact the buyer to complete the transaction outside of ebay before the auction ends, saves us both a bit of money.

Its not even capped, I paid £33 in fees on top of listings once for a set of buckets i sold for £330.

still made a much better profit than on here though, had them up for about 3 weeks for £200, kept getting chavvy cunts PMing me offering £100 and saying I was charging a stupid price and Id never get it when I turned em down :wall:

i just use ebay to buy. selling is too much hassle. when they take your fees out it says after 10 days but sometimes its been over 3 weeks and ive totally forgot the money was coiming out.

I used to buy and sell loads on ebay but it's pointless now.

It takes ages to photo and list your items, costs a fortune in sellers fees and paypal bend you over once you've given eBay the shirt off your back.

Scandalous

Yea it dose suck that you have to pay a final fee aswell as a listing fee.I only found this out when i sold a car on there the other day,I spoke to someone on ebay and they showed me how to look through all my fees and they even took the £8 listing off for me as a good will gester.

Which was a bonus.
