Is this possible? My engine is out the car atm and was thinking about tidying it up. Can i just paint the block with hammerite?

i wouldnt see why not but is it not a better idea to use high temp paint as the engine will ge thot and the paint might melt or burn = danger

I've done mine in high temp. satin black paint.
Degreased it then wire brushed it then used a brush to paint it on, made sure not to paint over the manifold flanges. :)

Hammerite is high temp stuff anyway.
Had it on mine (Block was dipped in an industrial degreaser before it was re assembled so there was literally no greasy crap on it
No problems since and theres no flaking off anywhere
