my father bidded on and won a 09 plate motorbike on ebay, it was listed as a stolen recovered and had very light damage which is was fine with as he was looking for a project. Anyways we turnt up to buy the bike and when i was with him i got him to HPI the bike case there was any outstanding finance as it was a 09 plate bike, the hpi came back that it was not a stolen recovered but it was a accident write off cat D, it was also listed as black but the bike was blue, this set alarm bells ringing as two things were not checking out, then the seller started to panic as was trying realy realy hard to sell it us so we walked away. now the seller has opened up an unpaid item dispute case on ebay

as far as i can see the contract for us to buy the bike is void as the bikes blue but listed as a black bike on the hpi and its also its registered as a accident write off not as a stolen recovered as advertised. plus isnt it illegal to sell a vehicle without stating its a cat d write off?

I dont think you have anything to worry about re the dispute, Im pretty sure PayPal or eBay will go in your favor given the circumstances

You have nothing to worry about at all mate.

JUst advise ebay of this and nothing will happen. He is 110% in the wrong.

he will have opened the case to get his FVF refund.

he will be able to close it saying that you both agreed not to complete the transaction in which case you wont get an unpaid item stike and he will get his refund but if you think he might be an arse then contact ebay and explain the situation. he is in the wrong so nothing will happen to your account, if ebay decide he's a dodgey seller then he may get banned.

cheers peeps, also the bike was listed with tax but when i got there it was a few months out of date plus it had more damage then described in the listing anyway. People like that should be banned from ebay we spent over £130 in fuel, van rental and hpi check, all wasted money that we wont get back
