i presume its the number pad you have?
enter the original code
press the C button (beeps 4 times - think)
enter the new code
press the C button
remove the keys from the ignition and with the central locking button lock and then unlock the car
wait for the red light to flash on the keypad (about 30 seconds)
put the igintion to 3 point or whatever and enter your new code
sure thats the procedure without getting the handbook out

The code is in a micro chip that is in the key. In the past it was piss easy to start a car with out a key. But with the chip in the key it makes it next to impossible to start the car with out the key. Its possibly not as secure as a keypad but still works very well.

If you have the old code then follow my procedure
enter the code you know
press the C button (beeps 4 times - think)
enter a new code
press the C button
remove the keys from the ignition and with the central locking button lock and then unlock the car
wait for the red light to flash on the keypad (about 30 seconds)
put the igintion to 3 point or whatever and enter your new code
Start the car

I think he means, he doesn't have the Key Fob. to lock and unlock the car. so he can't do the above procedure.

newer ones have an electronic chip in the key, and the engine will only start when that chip is so close to the engine, which is right where the ignition barrel is.
