Its only illegal if you have a "F" for france or have foreign writing on. You can have pressed plates with the GB on the side and its completly legal aslong as their spaced correctly and in the correct font.

I think if you got legal ones you wouldn't worry but if they were deemed illegal insurers would be walking straight away from a claim

pressed plates are not illegal. its the font and spacing thats illegal. placing like dubmeister and also craigs plates do perfectly legal ones. I got a set in the group buy and theyre awesome. Havent told my insurance company they are pressed. just told them about it now being a private plate.

as above, we make number plates for people at work. The font has to be correct, has to be correct spacing, has to have the name and post code of the place where theyre made and also have to have the bsau I.D. I have bought the dubmesiter pressed plates which are perfectly legal. If in doubt, keep the receipt in the glove box, as it says road legal on them.

as long as they're correct font, spacing, colour, reflective, post coded, bsau ID'd any car can have metal plates

well the rep for 'bestplate' came over last week, to check our system and computer etc, and he didn't say any change in the law. We're given a letter with all possible scenarios of illegal plates, and it still says it needs the postcode of the supplier. I might be wrong, but surely we would have been notified of any change in the law.
