Just clocked up 50'000 miles driving my spaxo (2nd owner). Car now on 64'000 miles. In those miles and 8 years its only 'broken down' twice (?) :
Once whe boot light switch got stuck, interior light was on for a few days; flattening the battery, and once when fuel line came off due to a jubilee clip coming loose.Apart from that couple of driveshafts, droplinks,a battery, pair of door-hinges and not alot else apart from fuel and tyres etc
So all the tales off woe on here about French shit,Paxo's being unreliable etc: Is this due to the high percentage of young owners (Due to low prices / insurance and bang-per-buck on VT? models,) and cars perhaps being driven around with minimal maintainence. Would the same not ring true whatever cars some owners had ???
Harsh but fair ????

There's not a lot to a Saxo though, the bit's that have broke on yours are the only bits to break. Unless you expect the roof to drop off. I think your's has done all right though.
My mum's done 40k miles in a Honda jazz, and nothing at all has broke or gone wrong.

12,000 miles later with mine and, clutch, starter motor, powersteering pump, rocker cover gasket, droplink, about 20 brake light bulbs, a rust hole in the rear wheel arch looking into the boot, 3 tyres and thats about it. i think its quite reliable other than the rare times it doesnt start on first turn of the key and the ignition key flashes on the dash , but then starts the 2nd time- no idea what that is

Stereo types of cars piss me off!
Jap cars: Fucking built proof - Ok they are well built and can take some shit but you still have to look after them and they can still break!
French cars: Shit - Ok, so some are but generally i think French cars are pretty good! They're well built, pretty reliable, well designed and good looking cars!
German cars: Reliable and Bulletproof - I may drive one but i dont agree with this at all. Ok so they are generally pretty reliable but they do break down all my friends have german cars and they break down on the regular! :p
Italian cars: Just shit - Haha ok so i dont like them but tbf they arent all crap, one word Ferrari!
American cars: Cant go round corners - Ok generally true but the do make some than can, Saleen! :p
Ok so generally true but not always so do my head in! :p

LSOfreak... your issue with the key flashing is your immobiliser you need to clean the key fella.
Never broke down in either of my saxo's. I've drove approximately 30k-ish in saxo's in general. Several long stints and nothing goes wrong. It's just a generalisation that some un-educated individuals believe. CV joints have gone etc. and my car is now 11 years old. No rust on the chassis and it starts first time. My chassis is on 88k now.

ive literally just clocked 109k on mine (83k when i bought it) and it has never broke down on me.
Done the rocker gasket, and other little things, but i class that as just wear and tear tbh, the car itself has never let me down, not even a flat battery :D

My old 1.1 saxo
I put 47k on it in 14 month and the only thing that went wrong was i hit a rod smashed the sump/oil pump but replaced it and that was it.
Was the most reliable car i have had and thats no joke.
Only had to change driveshafts as it was lowered 60mm and 90mm on rear.

My old AX had 130,000 + and was still running strong before it was turned in to a race car. My 106 did some 65,000+ before a cat went. I still see it floating about now to the girl I sold it to many many years ago. My C2 has done 40,000+ and has only one problem and that was a front spring fail though apparently it was recalled for that and I just never bothered taking it back lol.

its all to do with how you look after it. i had mine for 11 years (seriousley) and the only things to go were:
clutch
driveshafts
water pump
radiator
not bad saying its a french car.

My parents have had the car since brand new, im 2nd owner and the clutch went after 155K miles.
Ive replaced drive shaft once, engine mount twice, the usual cambelt changes etc.
Nothing major apart from clutch
