Some say it does, same say they dont? Obviously if it does, there only certain ones at certain times, but what do you think?

There are several systems used to control traffic lights most use a induction loop. These systems would be totally unaffected by flashing your lights.

Some do some dont. The local A46 road ones are on some curcuit and not effected by light but they are by somthing possibly motion but i cant see where.
Another set in a local town are, all the bus drivers flash them, and all the poeple that aint local dont get whats happening.

Some do some don't as others have said. The ones with little boxes on top of them usually are.
Most new type ones have sensor pads in the road that you can often see by the rectangular lines of tar around them a few meters in front of the lights.

old models had sensors on the top nowadays its timed.

I thought older models were timed and newer models had the sensors ;) seems all the new lights around northants seem to be getting the sensors. They never appear at major junctions though it seems. I prefer them tbh half the time it means you needn't stop.

Lights that would be affected by flashing (your lights :-P) usually have a sensor above them. Often looks like a black box. You don't really see these often used on ordinary traffic lights usually only temporary traffic lights. Like them used at roadworks. Although they will pick you up anyway so it's not really necessary to flash them.
The norm is sensor pads in the roads which induce a voltage when compressed. Next time you drive up to a set of traffic lights have a look at the road before them. You will more than likely see what look like cutouts. These are sensors which control the lights. This is so that the lights don't have to go through their entire sequence constantly. They only need to change when there is a car waiting. So it can skip two or three sets of lights at intersections if there are no cars/bikes waiting for them. Or keep the main flow of traffic going and only change if there is a car waiting to pull out from a t-junction.
Disadvantage is if you stall at these lights and don't get going again before they turn red, you'd be sat at a red light until somebody else drives down the street. Which at quiet times might mean reversing and doing it yourself or jumping the red light.
Fuck me, that was good for this time on a Sunday :-O

It Does Not Work, It Sensor is a movement sensor, thus light isnt movement, even watched a program about road building and they said that it does not work, they mostly work in your favour at night, because no-else is around !!

agree, as said used to happen with the old traffic lights, but now its just a rumour lingering about. i think its just coincidencial for those who flash and it turns to green.

I think it's more of a rumour than anything, it's never worked for me.

ive done my "Signing light and guarding course" (SLAG for short :D)
Flash all you want, the light wont change on that Alone
The are all based on PIR sensors, similar to ones in burglar alarms
Its up to the operator to set them to either
#Motion control
#Manual
#Timer (usual 3 way lights)
When you flash yours light when the traffic light is on motion sensor, you practically tell the traffic light you are closer than you really are. It then relays the message to the other light to check nothing is closer than you are. Then its Green street
Motion sensor lights are based on first to the light get the green, you must be travelling at least 3-5mph (to allow for push bike to be trigger the lights)

I flashed at lights the other day...
a copper saw and pulled me over.
Apparently getting my cock out at 30 mile an hour and sticking it up to the window is dangerous...
