Yeah, I was going to make the post a little less vague but I was on the phone. But they didn't tell me, my training officer did, and when I confronted them about it they were stuck for words and just admitted it all. I hate my firm, at least be up front with me if I'm going to have to find another job =\.

Sucks mate - I was made redundant 4 weeks ago and went back to my old job luckily enough.
Just be positive and sign up to every recruitment agency in the area - THey will find you work. I am still a Recruitment Consultant so can give you any advice if you want mate.

I've just survived a second round of redundances.
With hourly paid operatives at the company I work at some were on a months notice, some were on a week. Just depends on what your contract says. Ring your union rep if need advice

it happened to me two years ago its a joke... you get told from leaving school you should get an apprentice and you will do well.... 2 years later your on your arse no qualification and no money .... same with Uni Graduates too, although they often have 15 Grand worth of student debt to pay off too.
The government has taken a big shiny dildo and rammed it up young peoples asses ! Rant over

I have an interview for an Apprentice Chef position on the second, although this is in a very prominent position with loads of rich people around and has huge business. So I hope I'll be safe.

Doesn't help with the state the country is in at the moment. End of the day it's the Companies decision to keep the apprentices on. Was common place in the construction industry for companies to let apprentices go before they were time served.

I wouldn't become a pastry chef anyway, too much of it is the same.
