following the "vts vs 172" poll
i'm quite interested in a 172 after i get my years no claims ( which actually would be 20months no claims)
also wouldn't mind a car that looks and goes great without modifying it, so thats where i got the 172 idea from.
just wondering what are you 172 owners paying on insurance?
thanks
EDIT: didn't realise this was in general chat thread! please move!

keep your quicksilver
the sensible choice
save some cash, dont mod it. then buy a better car a couple of years down the line

NCB means nothing, it's a case of if you have the money you can insure pretty much what you want when you want.
After 6 months of driving i had a 54plate Golf and a MK1 Golf GTI both in my name and both fully comp, after a year i had a 57plate Golf and my Mk1.
I am by no means a rich kid (i'm a high level window cleaner) and i apparantly live in a high risk area but it was what i wanted so i paid the price i was given,so get what you want providing you can afford to insure it,drive it and have fun in it who cares if it's group15+ go and enjoy.

oh and as a recommendation i'd say have a look at a Polo 6n2 TDI130.
It's a small car with a very tunable TDI engine which is the same as the mk4 Golf GT TDI 130 and they make excellent power off just a remap and also return excellent MPG and plus they look quality and have a galvanized body unlike the previous 6n Polo so the chronic rust problems do not happen. They also did a 1.4TDI version and a Colour Concept which are also very nice.
