Hey there,
My name's David Hughes, and I'm a representative of Citroën UK. We're trying to take a first few steps in being a little more social online, and are starting off by making contact with some communities who are, hopefully, interested in talking with us. Simo has very kindly allowed us to post here - so many thanks to him. :y:
We've just set up a YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/OfficialCitroen), to showcase some of our favourite Citroën related videos around the web. You'll see they mostly have a rally theme at the moment in honour of Mr Loeb winning the WRC; we've just managed to get hold of some high quality footage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVWCqf6sPto) of some of the races on before last weekends British Rally.
This is him showing off his more 'specialist' skills (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEcPL4uGpWU) in a way you don't usually see.
What we would like you to do, if you like, is to drop by, but also we'd love your comments, and suggestions for other cool videos to post.
I'm not trying to sell anything, and feel free to say "Hi!" to me below, I'll do my best to respond ASAP.
David

Can I ask why does Citroen not manufacture any hot hatches any more? C2 etc don't count.

Videos are cool, love the last one with Loeb on the 'obstacle' course! How bout getting some of Vettel in a rally car? Or Loeb in an F1?

Hello and welcome in.
It's good to see companies making an effort to get to know their consumer base,hopefully more will follow suit.
This may be one of the strangest requests you'll get no here but here goes anyhow;
Is it true that Leob took a DC2 Integra Type-R and a CH1 Accord Type-R around a track? If so are there any videos?
Cheers Andy.

Hi.
Citroen garages are expensive.
But welcome. =D.
Also, following the Saxo.. how did Citroen come up with the C2? :/.

Hi there :y:
Strange request, but do you happen to know the number of Saxo VTR's/ VTS's sold in the UK in both MK1 and MK2 guise?
Some footage of McRae in the Xsara would also be pretty good!

Hi, welcome to Sax-p.
Can I ask why does Citroen not manufacture any hot hatches any more? C2 etc don't count.
EU regs stop them making cars like saxos.
and it's not their target market anymore
the new "saxo" as it's claimed is meant to be a hot hatch, with a 1.6turbo engine

what does vtr and vts stand for? which has more torque, the vtr or the vts? will a vtr really do 60 in second? oh my god the mind boggles, so many QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!
im joking btw

It's a funny question because I've always wondered on the number of two tone VTS's sold... purely so I can say/lie to someone that mine is a limited edition VTS - although I doubt Citroen actually have records of the number of models sold according to car colour. But hey ho, I'll keep telling people that there were 100 TT VTS's sold and 90 where subsequently written off by chavs and thus, my car is rarer than a McLaren F1 :A:

Now Citroen really do pop out some amazing concept vehicles and it's fair to say that they usually rank highly with feedback from the press come Motor Show time. I'm sure I saw a Saxo mkIII concept recently which looked mighty impressive! But I might have just made that up in my head :geek:

You're joking aren't you?
edit: white text... sweet.
I've got to say it's great that Citroen UK are interested in forming links with existing owners of models, even ones as scummy as us :) Great stuff Citroen!
Edit: PS... I'm a Mechanical Engineer (Masters)... can I have a job?

Whilst it's not everyday you get the opportunity to speak with a representative of Citroen UK, I dont think David is going to be able to respond to all of your questions and queries (but good luck trying?!) Thankyou for taking the time to drop by and say Hi, David.
All, please be reminded of one of the main reasons for this thread... to find out what your favourite Citroen related video links are... so that they can be included within the feed.
we'd love your comments, and suggestions for other cool videos to post.

After all this WRC success with Loeb, why don't Citroen make a car that's actually quick? I know the economic climate is shifting away from things like that now but there was plenty of opportunity to make some kind of proper hot hatch or impreza type of thing and i see nothing, except the limp C4 VTS.
Tommo87
27th October 2009, 19:38
^^ it's because 'Hot Hatch' now is totally different to what it was 10years ago you only need to look at the CTR for proof of that, or the fact it took VW almost 30 years to make a GTI which stood up to the mk1.

Agree there!
Citroen are massively capable, the car would sell by the shed load too..
Theres nothing wrong with the existing cars but a proper, super fast Evo/Impreza rival would be amazing!
As for Video suggestions, any chance of some Saxo S1600 and C2 S1600 vids of Seb when he was in the JWRC stage of his career?
Thanks..

i think citreon should take the C4 rally car, and mate it road-legal, then it will have 300ishHP and be fast :y: that could be a Evo Rival ;)

OK a hatchback with more than 150bhp per tonne and is involving and fun to drive. I'm not asking them to build a car 10 years ago, i'm saying over the last 5 or so years why haven't they?

David,
Citroen are a good few years late in reaching out to communities. I'm sure you would have found this website more usefull a few years ago when most of the people on here had saxos.
If Citroen showed more of an interest perhaps the follow on car from the Saxo would have been better.
I know it's only for vid suggestions but just thought I'd make my comment.

Thanks for the welcome!
@titchster, @robvts20 - Thank you.
@Mieran – The automotive industry is a complex and mysterious one – that’s why I spend my time watching cool videos :-).
@gazwhittle - That's one area I don't have access to, I'm afraid. Hope you enjoy the videos!
@Mark51 - Hehe - maybe Daniel Elena lost his place on the page?
@raunchz – How about this one, with Loeb and Vettel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYlkyhyQbrc) chatting?
@Steve_VTS - Thank you. If you start one I’ll post on it :-).
@Tommo87 - I'll take a look, but that’s going to test my search skills ;-).
@RichardBound – Thanks for the welcome!. I think the answer to the question is “with great style” :-).
@tgb1992 - Thank you - will look for Saxo specific stuff
@potatopete - Not sure that's in my power – but here’s a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jTyMQYCAdg) to cheer you up!
@LeeumH – Not off the top of my head, I’m afraid – if I do find out, I will let you know. McRae in a Xsara - I'll see what's lying around…
@Ashleyp – Good to meet you - nice avatar!
@LeeM - Lucky for me someone pointed out the white text… ;-)
@adsayer - I'm pleased that you're pleased!
@SaXo_vtr123 - Trying to prove you wrong! :-) Will seek out Loeb in Saxos.
@Simo - Thank you for this opportunity, and all your help.
@Matts-VTR - Any advice gratefully received.
@Pieface - He did miss capturing a scary piece of driving. Even Sebastien looked a bit perturbed after that...
@furiomike – Loeb’s C4 looks pretty darned fast to me already :-)
@sparky771 – Heh! Speed is a fine thing, but I like to watch the professionals do it :-)
@MaRiO89 - Will see what's about from back in the day, thank you.
@BLUE_DEVIL - Thank you, sir!
@Predator_VTR - Thanks - was distracted by your avatar for a second there….
@Chuffy, @davidandrews5343 – I just hope you’re enjoying my company – and videos – now!
@Elliott - Hi Elliott!
@hellonpluto - I'm tending to favour the videos where the car makes it round the corner intact ;-)
@yorkie - I agree, really impressed by how dynamic this forum is!
Apologies if I missed anyone - it wasn't intentional. You’re all brilliant, please keep the comments coming!
Thanks,
David

Hi David how are you this morning? I appreciate you may not be able to answer this question but here's a go anyway..
For the WRC - for the next for years is the plan to continue with the C4?
I'd also love to see Peter Soldberg get a full time ride alongside Loeb in the C4.

Hello David,
Welcome to the Saxo forum. Fantastic video of how Sebastien navigates the Tesco car park!
Is there any chance of getting some early vids of Sebastien Loeb between 2001 & 2002 in the "Super 1600" which became the jWRC? These were his years in the Saxo VTS and should appeal to the community here.
Also, given that FIA are considering turbo-charged 1600s for the WRC from 2011 it worth pointing out Citroen's history in the hottest of the hot hatches.
Cheers Bob
