As above really,
Just wondering if it was legal to carry a gun would anyone do it?
I think if it was legal I'd own a gun but wouldn't carry it around on me. How would everyone feel if you were in a pub on a Saturday night knowing that almost everyone had a piece on them.
Note: I do not promote gun crime or the glamorising of it. Just wondering what other people think.

It would be a stupid idea.
but the first step is being contemplated by the Met, police having guns on patrol.

Hmmm i think if guns were legal we would probably have a bigger problem than america. americans have been brought up to own guns and most not all but most of em will probably never use em but if it suddenly came legal it would be the new trend in uk. and all these fucking wee chavs would just be taking pot shots all over the place. but even here its pretty easy to get hold of an illegal gun

28th October 2009, 09:37
Should be made legal, most dumb ass chavs would shoot emselves in the head by mistake anyways so /win

28th October 2009, 09:42
True Bickerton but then the dumb ass chavs would do the same to randoms most likely.
The Police having guns would be a bad idea aswell - Well in the Highlands Scotland as we don't have as much issues with guns/knives up here as say London does.
Would change Britain competely tho....... For the worse i rekon.

Crazy idea tbh. The uk would be just luke downtown Detroit.
Not a nice place to be.
I think the question you need to ask is " if it was legal to carry a gun, and you were carrying one, would you use it in light of the fact it's still illegal to shoot someone"
stupid thread really as it will never be a reality.

Well guns aren't illegal.
The only guns you can't own are automatics.
You can own a shotgun, a pistol, a sniper rifle, even a 50 cal etc.
It was a right to bare arms before, but the British are to stupid to handle a responsibility like that imo. Plus, although you can own them, it's not like America, you can flaunt it, or walk down the street with a pistol in a holster, however it's not right to just remove rights, maybe it should be trialed, would be the best way to find out.

If it was legal i would have my carry permit, and i would take it everywhere i go.
In this country you can have a shotgun, the police have to prove why you SHOULDNT be allowed one.
Where as other weapons, you have to prove why you should.

Go to the Isle of man!
1. Handguns are completely legal
2. Rural roads have NO speed limit
Heaven lol
Chuffy
28th October 2009, 14:08
Didn't know that bout the Isle of Man
So say it's Saturday, and you are going into town to meet friends.
You get up, shower, fix hair.... stick on some clothes, go down stairs (or throught to the hall if you're in a bungalow) put your shoes on and you're just about to open the door when you think:
"should I take my gun with me?" (Presuming guns are legal to carry)
I'm not so sure myself. Views?

I definetly would, small .38 chief special in a ankle holster, or keep one in the glove box :)

(havnt read other posts)
The logic wouldnt work. Crime would be so high it would resort in that you would have to to protect yourself when around bad areas, then again i dont think i would carry a gun.
In modern society you shouldnt have to protect yourself from one another.

I Think they should ban ALL guns. would solve all sorts of shit going on in the world!

28th October 2009, 14:32
lets face it... you've already got skabbies running riot with guns anyway, legalising them just makes it easier for them to lay their hands on the damn things.
JamesR
28th October 2009, 14:33
Could also reduce things aswell? Would you burgle someones house knowing they could be armed?
Would you hijack somone car knowing they would be armed?
Would you mug someone knowing they could be armed?
But yeah, for the most part it would probably make things worse.
smittytom
28th October 2009, 14:37
Tbh it would make crime a lot worse,
The amount of people getting stabbed these days is ridiculous and it would turn from stabbing to shooting people but on a higher level,
IMO its easier to shoot someone than to stab them so crime would escalate I think

On a side note - here is what happed to me last year...
When I was on holiday last year (Tenerife) I managed to get in some trouble with a group of lads.
It was partly my fault as I thought it would be funny to push one of the annoying kids in the pool. It turns out that the kid’s father was a big hard bastard.
So, after being threatened at the pool side (legs getting broken) I made my excuses and left.
I went to one of the local shops that sell those Chinese replica bb guns and picked up a desert eagle.
Goes back to my hotel room and stuffed it own the front of my jeans and I’m telling you lads I looked fucking bullet hard!
Went down for a drink before dinner and spotted the group of guys with their wives and kids.
I stood at the end of the bar with my fingers drumming the handle of my heater.
Everyone looked uneasy and the group of guys quickly left looking really scared.
The police were called shortly and I had two choices:
1.Fire at the police (although I had no bb’s)
2.Or, leg it!
In the end, I was caught and sent home but at least I showed those lads.

See this why it would be bad to be aloud guns because if you didnt push the kid in the pool none of that would of happened,
You try to make your self sound like the victim but your not.
If say your were a crazy bastard and your gun was real and you shot the guy it would of been because you pushed his son in the swimming pool not because he threatened you

Correct, they have to be a certain length to be legal... which then doesn't really class them as handguns due to a huge wrist brace and/or stupidly long barrel ...
