i think its a different method of escapement. kind of what makes it tick. its different because it shouldn't wear out as quickly. more complicated than the standard method which is like a wheel that moves a pendulum or another (balance) wheel.

Quartz watches - the second hand moves in a ticking movement. Best get a youtube video to explain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAZcjz9FPk4
Co-Axial watches - the second hand sweeps round the face of the watch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2JvReUPjsA
Quartz have batteries and co-axial are charged by a weight in the watch that turns on a pivot and winds the watch up. Meaning that the watch requires no battery.

yep thats what mine does, its mint as it never looses time as its constantly going. however, im sure its the movement of you wearing the watch that moves the weight that 'charges' the battery

Yeah as you move the weight pivots round winding the watch.
why not?

Because its like buying a Porsche boxster, its a poor mans 911.
Spend the extra £700 and get the real deal.
Also kinetic watches are different, they have a battery that is recharged by the movement of the wearer. You can leave them for 6 months and they still keep the time, whereas an automatic would stop.

yeh, but £700 is a fuck of a lot though isnt it..
especially on top of the price of the normal one!

I said that to the then Head of Toyota F1 a few years ago... his reply...
'If you've driven the two then you're a prat for spending the extra £40k'
If a boxster is good enough for the head of Toyota F1 it's good enough for probably most of us.
anyway, I know what you mean dude... at the end of the day you can buy a watch from argos for £20 that'll do the job, but then again you can spend £2k on a ring and all it does is fuck all. At least a watch crosses that divide between jewellery and function.
That said I'd never fucking buy one.

Excellent build quality. Almost perfect time keeping. Genuine waterproof (if you're into diving) and relatively exclusive.
I have a few watches and one of my faves is a £30 one from next lol
only problem is it's not accurate. And before any one says how can you comment when you own a 30 quid effort, I also have a 1998 rolex submariner date and several good quality citizen and Accurist watches as well as others.
Why spend a lot of money on anything when you can buy all you will ever need from tesco???
