using the cigerett lighter as a 12v feed?

hi im needing to re direct the power cable for my 12v pos alarm cable, iv been told you can use the 12v feed straight from the cigerette lighter plug, is this ok and also while im on a roll, i need the backlight for the heater dials changing:

A, how do you get to it

B, what buld do i replace it with?

ive got a few things off of my cig lighter and all seem to be ok.

as to the heater light i dont have a clue.

yess deff can use cig lighter as feed, i have done many times, the backlight on my heater dials has failed, giving it a whack used to sort it, now just dead

you can get to the bulb by putting your hand up behind the heater controls, it is a tiny little bulb that you can get from halfrouds.
