Disconect the rca leads from the amp then try it, then if not that disconect the remote wire, it could also be a blown speaker in the door so try disconneting things but 1 by 1. What make is the head unit sub and amp?

you solved it yet ?
does the headunit come straight back on ?
if it does it could be the sub drawing too much power which takes it away from everything else, eg, headlights will go dim ect, try turning the gain down or possibly may need a power cap.

A Cap would not fix a power problem like that, it sounds more like a short on a speaker at is making the head unit protect its self.

Disconnect one speaker at a time and see what happens.
