I have a red Saxo w reg 1.1 and this morning the steering became really really stiff and the air con decided to stop working so I was struggling to steer around corners and the car was completely steamed up. Then as I was getting close to my office and becoming concerned about how I was going to park it it suddenly went back to normal. Can the power steering do this if there is a problem? What do you recommend? I assume the air con going on the same day is an irritating coincidence...
Thanks!

sounds to me like alternator but not too sure if it started working again.. you could check all the wiring to your battery and alternator to see if theres any dodgey or loose connections.

OK, having had a bit of a search it looks like the two probably are related, my back windscreen heater is also not working and was completely steamed up today. Bearing in mind I know very little about these sorts of things, what do you reckon it'll be, and what will a garage charge to sort it?
