View Full Version : Evo Police Car Tailgating

Basically i got followed for about 2 mile by a Evo Police Car to the gates right outside my work, he didnt put the blue lights on or do anything, he waited slowly when i turned into a street then followed me and speeded up again, am just curious if anybody else has had this kind of thing before and was there any outcome from it?
Like i say he just followed me, i saw him on the Walky Talky speaking to someone when we was stood in traffic, my theory is that he was checking for insurance etc etc..

Yea checking your docs and being a prick at the same time, its an ego thing, I've had one do it to me in the dark I had a hunch it was them and drove about 30 on a road I touch 100 nearly every time I drive down it just to anger them, they then lit me up, irratically overtook me, turned them off and went round the bend ahead in the opposite lane [racing line??] I plan to get a dash cam in my VTS soon, if I'd had one back then that pig would have been out of a job before he could blink.

I agree with ya mate but they should go looking for the people that don't have Insurance, Road Tax or MOT inside of bothering people that have ticked all the right boxes !!!!

The DVLA database does that in due time matey
The coppers do the spot checks randomly to lots of drivers. They are simply trying to catch out the folk driving illegally & I'm glad they do it tbh.
At the end of the day, the doc's must have been good to go, the driver wasn't pulled, the copper drove off & the story ends.

You did 30mph on it because there was a Police car behind you, but you regularly do 100mph on it? Tell me it's not a 30...:panic:
And maybe he got a call, put the lights on to warn you he was there, when he came past you, then switched them off because there was no need for them once he'd already passed you?

putting down on a public forum that you do 100mph on a road that may or may not be a 30 is a bit silly

Ive had a police evo very close to the back bumper before for a while then i got pulled.
It maybe they want you to try and race or maybe they are trying to see the num of people in the car etc, dunno.
Gotta love police chases tho.

if they dont check peoples details how do they know there illegal or not?! ;).
You should re think your statement!

police should ALWAYS have a warning system on when on an emergency call.wether it be it just the blue lights or the siren aswell.
The police cant see whos walking out from an alley or what car is waiting round a blind bend etc.
Its also illegal for the police to be on an emergency call without some kind of warning system to alert people/drivers in the vicinty.
Police even when on 'a call' should abide by the road laws,it's on;y a given thing that they run lights, spee etc.if it's not safe for them to do it,and someone gets injured, killed etc the police should be liable.
I see to many police drivers think they have a right to 'push' you out of the way (law says a police car shouldnt force or make people change directions) and that they own the road.

I've had this, Volvo estate car pulled out of nowhere behind me and roared up behind me in a 40 zone, followed me for a while then he just braked hard, turned around suddenly in a pub car park and went in the other direction.
Just showing us that they can I think!

there not chav cars,no car is chav, its the people that have them that chav them up.
common sence it is't,they could miss one car because it look standard because they checked a car that was 'chavved up' but legal.

lol,i know the stereo type and it pisses me off that because of this il get potentially stopped and being all legit and the person next to me at the lights has no license, insurance etc and drives a standard car wont get pulled.lol oh well i drive sensibly so hardly get pulled over anyway (only got pulled over in the saxo once in 2 years and that was just a random stop).

I had a Beemer tailgate me off the m62 late one night. No blues but when I could I pulled over and walked to their car knowing exactly why they were tsilgating me.
I was doing 130 On an empty motorway and they clocked me at 105. Because I had basically held my hands up and said fair cop they only stung me fir 3 points

TBH mate the saxo vtr is well known as a "boy racing car". They probably think that every saxo driver is a Burbrey slung chav that'll race anything. When i brought mine, 2nd day i was pulled twice. dont worry about it. Just ignore them and respond only if they flash the lights. Unless youve engine converted to a 6litre V12 :D

if a car isnt chavved or being driven hard hopw the fuck is it a chav car or 'boy racers car'.

I've been followed once. Was driving back towards town when a Panda Volvo was driving out of town. They rounded a roundabout i'd just gone through and followed me along the road really close, before turning back and going back they way they were originaly headed. Blatantly just wanted to follow me to check documents etc. Wasnt fussed tbh as all is well with my doc's.

As a laugh, next time me n ma mate are parked sumwhere and a police car parks near us or pulls up at some lights, we're gonna get out and leg it n keep looking at them lol

i was coming back down the M4 through Wales (after getting off the Rosslare ferry at Fishguard hours before), some jumped up Officer Dibble in a squad car followed me literally about 1 foot off my back bumper, I was in the middle lane - he could have gone around, but no he just sat on my bumper like a prick.
i moved and he went past. evil look dispensed lol.

Was being tailgated by a marked car before on the M5 couple days ago. Kept staring at the flourescent yellow circle on its windscreen thinking what the hell is that, I remember hearing about it before. Clicked to me just then, armed police lol. Wasn't speeding or anything wrong. This was in the inside lane too. At first thought oh dear I am going to be sniped lol. BOOM headshot.

I was very lucky indeed. I think the fact I have respect for coppers (as 99% of them are just doing their job) helped my cause.
There was also the fact I had 2 of my mates in the car with me and I explained we'd been out for their birthday and I'd volunteered to drive and not had a single drink all night. There was a bit of mutual respect there.
The reason I was gunning it was one of them needed the kazi and I didn't want wet seats!

Out of curiosity, obviously they can check if you have insurance via a plate check, but can they check what it covers? Eg, if you're driving a modified car (lowered, bodykit or something equaly obvious) can they see if you have it declared on your policy or not?

I'm pretty sure it would need a phone call to the insurance company to verify that information. They are quite within their rights to do so though!

FAr as I know the check just tells the police if the vehicle has insurance on it. Specific details of teh policy would need to be gained from the insurer.

I can agree with what everyone is saying but I remember this one point we had A cop car behind us he was obviously doing some checks so even though I had all the legit docs he pulls me over not A problem with me but as soon as the cop comes over to me A Pulsar shoots past us doing easily 70mph in A 40mph road and the copper said himself why did I pull you over? So this is only the reason I said what I said before as the cops always scare people that are legit u rarely will see them pull over A bad driver or so on!

You 2 need to think about what you're trying to say before typing. How many other police cars have passed you that haven't stopped you? You've had a bad experience with one, maybe 2 coppers out of tens of thousands.
I had a bad experience with 2 cops in an unmarked car just after I passed my test which resulted in a 6 month ban for careless driving. They screwed me over big time and basically made up a story and influenced statements to make it look as though I was racing. I will always hate those cops nit that doesn't mean they are all like that.
Have a bit of respect and you'll get dome back. Cnuts.

it doesnt work like that im afraid. once you have had a random bit of bother in a car you keep getting bother till you get rid of the car in question.
i should know ive had it with every car that i own.
heres a list of examples of the crap ive had to put up with;
1. in 2005 i was rammed off the road by 2 T5 marked cars in "in formation" arrested and charged with stealing my own car. no apology was made.
2 in 2006 i had someone pull out on me and write my car off. not my fault at all but i were accused of speeding and i was talked to like a piece of shit on the bottom of the coppers shoe. once again after measuring the skid marks it showed that i were doing 20 to 25 mph. again no apology was made.
3 in late 2006 and early 2007 i was pulled, put in handcuffs and talked to like a scrote of society again for driving my own car. it turned out that even though my car was registered to me tax and insured in my name and i was driving it they thought i had nicked it anyway.
4 2007, i was arrested in the same car again and told ii had stole it, in actually fact the retarded copper had read the licence plate wrong 3 times. my licence plate was "n464 ewb" the dislexic copper read out 3 times "n646 ewb" which was a stolen astra (my car were a punto) registered to a mr lee brook.
5. in 2008 i were issued with a caution for driving into tescos petrol station "for having an after market back box" on my corsa c. the copper was getting fuel and thought it would be a great laugh to embarrass me apparantly. tosser.
6. in late 2008 i had a new drive shaft fitted at ricky-ps, it was late on a wednesday night when we got done. i set off driving home when a copper came out of no where and jumped in the middle of the road with a torch. the accusations were, speeding, driving without due care and attention, dangerous driving and my favourite DRUG DEALING! wtf? i had my car searched for every drug known to man. they checked everywhere, even under the car! the said if they saw me driving again they were going to take my car off me and i could never get it back.
7. and my all time favourite, driving through my home town when this pratt in a rover 200 with a silly jap can on it pulls straight out on me. i slam on and skid and beep my horn as you do. about a third of a mile down the road there is some traffic lights, the rover gunned it and shot off just scraping through the lights, i stopped and waited. within seconds a marked BMW estate did a hand brake turn with its lights on in front of me and blocked the road and the traffic lights off. they said i was going to get banned for jumping a red light, how is that possible when im still sat there waiting for the lights to change? anyway then i were accused of speeding when i went through the light (which i hadnt it was the rover, i were still stationary) i got told i would be getting banned, have my car crushed and possibly take an extended driving test once i get my licence back.
they also out my car on the "register" and yes it does exsist. this is a list of cars where everytime they pop up or are seen the coppers have to check who is driving it, check all the relevant documents, where the car has been and where it is going.
rant over but bottom line is every single copper ive come across is an absolute fucking arse hole. they love power tripping and bigging them selves up. when a real crime happens , like a burglary they cant do shit. they just like annoying the piss out of everyone. tbh i wish they would all get aids and die a horrible painful death and leave me to go about my buisness. the fucking tossers

There is alot of hate in this thread about the police.
There are always arseholes in every job, so theres bound to be a few arsehole police... BUT not all of them!
If your pride and joy saxo was stolen one night, and the police pulled the theif over in the car and you got your car back, you wouldn't be ranting at how police follow people ect and pull people would you? So why not just take it on the chin, if they think something is wrong with your car or your driving, they are allowed to pull you over!!!
Their job is to catch criminals, so providing you don't do anything wrong you'll be fine.
Grow some balls haters.

this is the icing on the cake though. one of my cars got stolen, 3 days later i found the car. with the person that stole the car stood next to it with door open about to get in it. he is a known as the local car thief. i rang the police, attempted to get this car thief, he got away but the cops saw him and didnt think to stop him. they turned up. soco dusted the car. turned out it had his finger prints all over the car.
do you know what they turned around and said? there is not enough evidence to prosecute. I COULD NOT FUCKING BELIEVE IT!!!!! he were caught red handed pretty much in the car with his prints all over it and they turn around and say that.
COPS ARE USELESS FACT they do sweet fuck all and are a massive waste of time we might aswell not bother with them at all.
all they do is annoy motorists, and never do anything about real crime cos there too scared.

Cnuts.
I am not trying to argue the point back and forth like a small child, if you re-read my OP it states that HALF of them are responsible for this kind of conduct, I have been targeted for a four year driving career, never had speeding points, dangerous driving or anything on my record that warrants a pull. I have lost count of the amount of times I've been stopped it is well over 50 and not once have I been given documentation as evidence of my pull so they stop me, they break the law, they walk away, every time. In my case out of the pigs that have spotted me out and about 75% or more have followed/noted me in an attempt to revoke my licence/fuck me over yes I do HATE them and with just cause, I am not the problem their egos are the problem.

No I will not, recovering a stolen car is their duty, do you go and thank some one every time you see them sweeping the road?
The shit I have been subjected to is not part of their job and warrants hatred, what I have seen makes me right, what you have seen makes you right, thats it.

Just lol
I find it amazing how I've driven blatantly modified/loud/quick cars and the only times I've ever been pulled over in 13 years of driving have been because I've actually done something wrong!

Ditto - had one do it on the A38 into plymouth. I hit 112 and they stung me for 3 points and a fine, by using my average of 101. Got the ticket still.
Their excuse was that they were armed response and they had to tailgate me to match my speed for reporting purposes.
Both guys were shithot, and were ex navy, so me being navy i think it helped. When they asked me why i was going so fast i said its because you had this thing 6 foot off my arse end.

I always get asked 'do you get bother from the old bill?'
Well... no?!
I don't do anything to give the police a reason to pull me, fine me and give me points!
19 years old, stripped gti with a roll cage, buckets and harnesses, poly windows ect. The amount of times police go past me and stare at me is unreal. But like I say, if your a good little boy, you won't get hassle.

yeh police around the south east do this all the time! they are cheaking your vechical and trying to force you into doing something silly. had this a week or so ago, they were right up my arse and i slowed down in a 50 to 15. when they asked me why i told them that they were driving dangerously and that the highway code dictates that you should slow down and matain a steady speed if someeone is tailgating you! worked for me there just being jobworths! must have been bullyed at school and now think there big cos they got a 400bhp evo! what dicks i cant comprihend why anyone would want to be a copper! espically when the laws are so messed up in this country!

ive had it done to me plenty of times. Police drive right up the arse of your car then they back off then they come up close again. I think they were trying to get me to hammer it on a bit but i jus sat at 30. Quite annoying tbh!

never had a problem with the police.
and im sure most of these stories have been exaggerated.
Ive been stopped twice. once for speeding which is 100% fair enough
the other to be given a warning for manner of driving.
Ive had them stop infront of me on a roundabout and stare in, but its because they thought i wasnt wearing a seatbelt, but i had a harness on :D

I dont have a problem with the cops tbh, they are doing there jobs and have never got funny with me over anything. I was caught doing 123mph in a 60 zone a few years back, cops came down the slip road and pulled me. I held my hands up, co operated to everything they said and asked of me and walked away with 4 points and a €500 fine. Theres been many times I've had a police car follow me, run checks and then drive past. All part of driving i guess.

if you say we are making things up its cus nothing like this has happened to you like most people are saying the cops drive behind them check details then drive off which is fair enough but when they followed me for miles upon miles and when i turn down narrow streets to see if they follow and they do then they are doing it on purpose because they have nothing better to do, im not just saying that off hand like a lot of people do, if they had something worth while to do then they wouldnt follow me for 30min and not have any intention of pulling me, what an utter waste of fuel and resources
