Me and some mates were going to drive to Worthersee next May for the VAG show thing, in my mates Golf 1.8T. We are all 18 and have clean licences and have all been driving over a year. On the direct.gov website it says that's all you need, but someone told me today you need to have held your licence for 3 years? Anyone know? Cheers.

I know you need different insurance, but are you saying you can't get insured unless you've held a licence for 3 years?

Found what I was looking for, you can drive your own car at 18, but have to be 25 and had licence for 3 years to hire a car in most cases.
