Tang Soo Do is a chinese phrase for knife and gun street violence. This is practiced in the eastern regions of china to release aggression in severe conflict

have you not thought of anything more aggressive (maybe not the best word to use)?
When i was younger i did judo and karate and didn't really get into them. i then moved onto kick boxing and enjoyed that as it was more aggressive and now im onto Muay Thai that ive been doing for a few years and imo its the best one ive done. This is purely because of how violent it is. doesnt suit everyone though

I don't want something more aggressive for her, just want something like this, i work with the instructor so that helps as i know what he is like personality wise etc.
Arguably kick boxing isn't a martial art, it's more just fighting ;)

my son has loads of energy as to me seems very aggresive so basicaly i want to controle his aggression there is a little girl who lives 2 doors away from us and she goes the same school as my son her mum is an alchoholic so me and my wife asked him to keep an eye on her at school she calls my son her bodyguard as he has stopped about 4 kids picking on her

I did budoken & Shutoken back in the day. Was pretty good as well won the Scottish under 16s at 15 and was runner up in the British. Was supposed to go to the Europeans as well but school came first and kinda faded away and stopped when I was 19 when I went into town after a competition and couldn't pull with a huge fat lip.
Shame but I always think of going back but sitting on the couch is much easier and less chance of losing some teeth. Plus MMA is the fashionable thing now and probably better

lol, yeah it is which is why it suited me more and then Muay Thai is the step up from that

I think MMA is over rated Scott. Unless you have done a couple of martial arts/fighting styles previously there is sooooo much to learn. Its funny how people that do it for a few years think they are the big man and then soon get put in their place when someone more experienced comes along

I keep getting tempted to do kick boxing but as i haven't done anything like it for years i feel i would just be paying for a guy to beat the shit outta me!
If i got my weight down a little and my technique up a bit then i would probably start kick boxing as does interest me, it's rather fashionable now as is mma, kinda like karate was 20 years ago due to karate kid ;)

its not about getting beat up mate, if you go somewhere and that happens then its the wrong place. however, i get a 'controlled' beating every now and again and it keeps you on your toes lol

Lol no fear of that, it just went of topic for a second it seems.
I think all martial arts attracts different kinds of people, i mean like alot of standard kick boxing people may not have the patience etc for karate and similar ones, all a personal taste kinda thing

I understand the belt system to a point but don't really know how it holds up in the "real world" i mean would a black belt usually hand peoples asses to em? (i know thats not what it's about, but just want some perspective)

exactly, i didnt have the patience for all the dances (katas sp). Kick Boxing and Thai Boxing are good if you want to smash someones head in but its also good for the same reasons as other styles e.g confidence building, self defence, keeping fit, etc.....

exactly right, i started kickboxing last year, and the belts are just about performing a little shitey dance putting kicks after punching, didnt intrest me , so just trained and learned different kick etc. we had an interclub competition, and i came 2nd, without even having a belt haha, pissed a few people off
bickerton- i wouldnt worry about the weight and technique thing, i was the same, didnt go to boxing cos i had only had punch ups in the street, and thought id get my ass handed to me at boxing, put kickboxing off for 3 years cos i didnt believe i was fit enough, so wen my mate invited me, i said yeh before i realised it, was 16 stone when i started it, and trained 3 nights a week, and gym aswell, and within 3 or 4 months, i had dropped 2 n half stone. and my flexibilty was good, do the splits the lot, at 15 stone
alot of people are under the misconception, that they cant go to the gym, cos there too fat, or cant train at something, cos they think they will get shown up by some1 else, but mate, i would advise going to kickboxing as soon as you can, its good,
im going to muay thai when i get back from sea next time, as i love watching it, and work with a load of filipinos, so gunna try to get a heads up before i start it, as they love it , and train like fuck on the ship.

Kick boxing is great. I love it.
There is a good few younger girls that attend the class.
Maybe take you daughter down to a session of karate or kick boxing to see what she prefers. Their probably be girls her age there too so might help her make friends that will stop her getting any shit,

Kickboxing is good yeah but stupidly expensive, I dunno how much you pay though.
I did it with IKBKFO (international kickboxing and kunfu organistaion)
The prices for everything were ridiculous, I got to brown belt but was on black belt standard however I refused to pay the £300 grading for black belt.
You even had to pay for tournaments even though I won one of them.
Im getting into MMA soon as its dirt cheap and the best sort of fighting you can learn.
Claireeyy

Its not that expensive its £4 a session, I do it through the Satorishido Martial arts association.
McGuire86
17th November 2009, 15:50
When I did it it was around £4 a session, £50 for gloves and pads, over £50 for the kit, over £50 for a tournament, like £35 license, then £10 for a fuckin belt lol, and grading was the biggest piss take, £30 for white belt, £350 for black..

Aye the kit is pretty expensive nearly £100 for it all. think gloves were only £30 or so though. Grading is £20 I think but you dont have to buy the belt you get that if you pass lol
as for tournaments i haven't done any.
