running a 300w infinty sub of a 454 jbl amp. on the headunit all the sound is at the front and the sub sounds alright for some songs, but then on like dance music stuff in can hear a noise like the sub is working to hard and can hear like a clipping sound? is my sub now wrecked or do i just need to work on the settings. how will i know if im damaging it? cheers

how is the gain set on the amp?
it's not a volume control, its a signal sensitivity matcher

i just started low and turned it up slowly. dont know what its set on it doesnt say. halfway between 6v and 75mv
btw this sub isnt in a box at the moment i was just testing to see if it worked?

LOL, a sub box is more imporant than the sub in creating a good sound.
and set the gain properly when it's in a box

lol sorry i suck. i was thinking it sounded pretty rubbish. was just making sure i hadnt bought a broken item.
