Right my engine has a serious amount of movment when you lift the clutch in gear, it bangs aswell. It pops out of 5th when you let off the accelarater making me think it was the engine mount as the engine is rocking making it pop out....also have to lift the clutch and push it into 1st for it to go in when the engines at the right angle..

Ive replaced the battery mount with a good standard one, and the ECU one today with an almost brand new one. Also the lower engine mount has been a GrpA for a while now, and it did it before i fitted that.

Any other ideas on how its moving so much? Its coming from the gearbox side, but as ive said ive fitted a replacement mount there aswell.

Im puzzled on this one!

Must be the mount? You got the metal spacer on the bolt that goes up through the mount?

It makes sense that its the battery mount. But ive replaced it with another one and still the same problem. Its all fitted correctly, all in place etc.

When i bought the car it had a powerflex mount and the previous owner said it started popping out of 5th when he fitted that. That lead to make him think its the gearbox, but then i found the engine movment.

Is it possible: becouse the GrpA lower mount is solid and the upper mount is only standard, that the possible engine movment is all being sent towards the weekest/easily rocked mount being the battery one?

It could be the problem.

Therer are only 3 mounts holding the engine in place, if the engine is moving a lot then I would 99% say it's one of them. Could you have cracked the mounting point on the group A one making it loose?

Needs a good look around - just give the engine a good shake and see if yo ucan see where its moving

Well this is the thing, it started before the GrpA was fitted. The ECU mount is fine, double fitted today and checked. The battery one and the plate on top of the gearbox is fine.

I think ive sussed it finally though.

The lad said it started once he fitted the powerflex lower engine mount. So maybe, once he replaced the fked engine mount with the powerflex, instead of the powerflex taking the movment and strain this lower fork one is taking it all instead.

It makes sense now as its the same symtoms and feels just like a lower engine mount has shot it. Just going to buy this GrpA one now and hopefully this sorted the problem out.

Yeh would make sense! I like the look of those, just got to watch the weld on the lower mount where it joins the body shell
