cheersNumpty, why start on a wall. You know your going to lose everytime, if the job is done correctly the whole stud wall will need to be repaired. It will require the slats to be replaced from top to bottom, a cowboy will only repair them by bracing them up and then cover up. Which unfortuantly is'nt a long lasting repair.

yeh it will be lath and plaster.

just cut out the hole you made with a plaster board saw to make it square.

then fix 2 lengths of tile baton or something similar (pieces of 1 x 1 wood or something) within the hole by screwing through a solid part of the wall, so that the 2 lengths are running across the hole but recessed back.

then cut out a square of plasterboard (probably 12mm thick) to the exact size and screw it into the hole. and if your not too handy with doing a finish coat of plaster just use a filler like tetrion to fill all the holes and gaps. job done

Pretty much spot on...

Saxbuild, I followed this method -it's lasted 7 years without any sign of the damage so I think it's a safe bet to say that it's a long lasting repair if the jobs done properlly & with a bit of TLC.

This method cost me a grand total of £10 & it's completely unnoticable.
