Just got a puncture....a nail in my tyre.

My spare wheel is a different size and different tyre profile so i cant put it on with my alloys.

I really need my car tomorrow and no where stocks 195/40/16 so i need to order them in so wont have them till thurs, but i need my car tomoz.

my mate said they will "cap" my tyre, which is like repairing it rather than getting a new tyre....is this true?

If not i may put my VTR wheels on for the winter.....what profile tyres are VTR wheels?

NEED URGENT HELP TONIGHT GUYS!!

may whack the VTR's on just the front, and keep my OZ's at the back :y: lol would that be okay?

or shall i just keep the vtr's on all winter to make sure my oz's dont get damaged in the winter weather?

if i can get it repaired i will do for the time being. how much does it cost?

Puncture repair where i stay depends on the method of payment ;)

But i would use the vtr's over winter.

Give the OZ'zzz a good blast with some bilberry and then copious amounts of Poor Boys wheel sealant ready for spring/summer/autumn

yeah im tempted to put the vtr's on. hmmm. but my car looks so much better with oz's! lol

how much would it cost roughly for puncture repair?

and would it be okay to drive tomorrow with vtr's at front and oz's at back?

Well its a 10er cash or 17.50 by card at national tyres where i stay

I'd say no mate, as the vtr's are 14's and the OZ'zz are 16's and both will have different profiles

So for safety over the next few days, stick the r's on then put the OZ'zzz back on once you get a new tyre, i personally only like a puncture repair in the short run, ie 1 week max then i replace a tyre

To get a tyre plugged is about 15 quid, that includes a new valve and re-balance.

They pull the nail out, drill the hole out so its big enough to put the plug through, the glue the plug in place, as if the nail was never there :y:

well if i get it repaired i will ask them to order a tyre at the same time, and get the tyre done thurs morning, as i need to go get my bonnet pins fitted tomorrow at 12. :S

hmmm really dunno whether to put the VTR's on for winter or get a new tyre now for my oz's.

i hate decisions.

Well if you use your VTR's then give the OZ'zz a good going over ready for next year!

spose, but all the people who will see my car for the first time over xmas will think it looks wank with standard wheels!! haha need to spray the vtr rims anthracite with a bright orange lip :)

how long roughly does it take to change a set of wheels?

also i dont have a torqure wrench :(

Takes me about 20 mins to do 4 wheels, jack the front end, axel stand, stick the 2 fronts on

repeat for the back. or take them to the garage with you tomorrow and they'll probs do them for like a 10er saves the time n hassle

easier to take to a garage tbh.

Well if not, get the puncture done and also buy a new tyre to get fitted then.

yeahh tbh i will need a new tyre at some point. i'll get it plugged tomoz, order a new tyre, and then i can think about whether to put my vtr wheels on or not.

vtr rimmzz over winter ftw, no point gettin the OZ's covered in salt and shite everyday when you can use the vtrs and not worry about them as much as you would the oz's :)

£5 -£10 for puncture repair.

All depends on where abouts the nail is though mate. If its near the shoulder then its a no no as the cap or patch wont stick. If its anywhere else then its fine, if its a big nail they will put a plug into it, if its a tiny nail then a usual puncture pacth like you get on a push bike.

fair crack, in that case then just leave the oz's on and rinse them down after youve been out on salty roads :y:

Be fine then mate, will only take about 10mins to do, literally like a push bike repair! and about £7 i would of charged for that.

Forever lol, as long as it dont go flat too much! Keep an eye on the pressue and maintain it untill you get fed up then repair it if the tyre has enough tread left to make it worthwhile repairing.

I drove my old tyres with nails in literally like a needle pin and i just kept the pressues maintained for like 15k miles lol

well i went to my local tyre place this morning, when i woke up and drove there the tyre was as flat as a pancake. apparently this meant that the tyre was screwed up inside so they couldnt plug it cos it may go bang.
so theyve put my spare wheel on at the back and they've ordered in a new tyre for me. ah well.
