I've ben told that the input shaft on my Saxo VTR is damaged as a result of the clutch breaking. I've had a new clutch, do I now need a complete new gearbox? Or can a very skilled mechanic fix the input shaft without the need to replace the whole gearbox?

Cheers
Sam

Depends on the amount of damage done to the box mate.

Possibly you could just have it re-furbished.

The guy only fixed the clutch on Monday. Its squealing a bit now cos of the damage to the shaft. He said he cleaned it as much as he could and the squealing should go away. I don't fancy forking out even more now to get a new gearbox so may get ir refurb'd if it's cheaper.
