hello all.
I was out driving last week, went over a pot hole and had a knocking sound coming from the rear, i wasnt sure what it was as it was dark and wet so just went home, been away all week without the car so had a look at it when i got back in, what happened was the brake line popped out the cable mount and was rubbing on the wheel, so now as you can guess the outer of the brake line has worn away a little bit, any idea where i can get a replacement and how much for? or would it be worth getting braided hoses for that bit extra performance? only on standard vtr discs..
cheers
Eric

Are you sure its a brake line? Sounds more like the handbrake cable. Happened to me on my VTR and it was rubbing on the wheel. Ended up needing a new wheel and a new handbrake cable on one side.
Im pretty sure a brake line could not rub on a rear wheel. Check what i said above.

tbh mate i havnt a clue what it is, it seems to be fed to the rear brake? could very well be the handbrake cable, if it is seeing as its a cable set up and not hydraulic i should be able to get away with it seeings as theres no pressure being put through it?

If its the car in your profile "97 VTR" im pretty sure it will be the handbrake cable thats unclipped and touching the wheel. The brake lines that go towards the wheel are solid metal. The handbrake cable also goes to the caliper but into the bottom of it to pull a little lever to apply the handbrake when you lift it up.
If in doubt take it to a garage. I have not changed a handbrake cable before - someone else might be able to tell you how easy it is.

Agreed sounds more like the cable.
If it goes in to the bottom of the caliper then thats what is.
So long as it works ok clip it back in place amd it should be fine
ot upgrading to braided lines is always worthwhile!
Ask ash about the 1s i supply

Its the handbrake cable! Put a couple of strong zipties on it to secure it back away fromt eh wheel! Job done!
