Scince I'm starting my new job which the pay is amazing I can afford to overhaul my car

I need some help in doubts I have

• I'm going for blistein Group N Shocks, with 60mm spax lowering springs, I understand that group n's need hard springs to work right, does that mean group n shocks will be really bouncy with spax springs?

• Also can I use the existing top mounts for my standard susp. With group n's?

• On the rear I'm going for Gaz Adjustable Shocks(damping) does anybody know how good they are? Allot of people say they are the best but Id like to hear others views

• What are the benifits of putting on new wishbones?

Also can someone Explain to me why I can hear my car ticking over when idling and when I drive it gets worse, my gearbox dosent want to go in reverse and sometimes some other gears, and my pass Drive shaft is rattling upon deceleration, could this be the reason why it sounds like it's ticking over? But if it was it dosent explain why it does it on idle, could it be a fanbelt?

Wow, a lot of questions!!

Personally I wouldn't drop it 60mm on group n shocks. Look to keep it around 40mm and get some Faulkner springs from Kam Racing.

I've never used Gaz so can't comment. Best of reading peoples opinions on here by searching - a good upgrade on the rear could be a 24mm anti roll bar - £100 from Peugeot.

You can use standard mounts, the group n mounts are just a harder rubber - upto you really

New wishbones will make the suspension feel 'tight' and more precise - will depend on how worn your old ball joints/bushes are

ticking sounds like tappets - get the clearances checked. Could be a loose spark plug or just the injectors.

Gearbox could need some fresh fluid in it, new linkages or the clutch needs adjusting or worse case senario is synchro's worn - reverse can be difficult on an ma box

driveshaft, maybe cv joint gone

-60mm ftl.

iirc gaz are quite hard, maybe too hard for standard torsion bars?

a good set up would be, grpN fronts with 170 - 180lbs springs, and B8 rears,

unless of course you plan to run thicker arbs / torsion bars, then B8's are fine on the rear

My set up is group N billies front and rear with GMC springs. Mines down about 40mm. and tbh id prefer bigger Torsion bars. I must say though i have never had my car understeer or feel anywhere close to its limit with this set up and thats with some seriously hard driving.

That''s the setup I'm running right now and it feels spot on, on the road - would recommend it to anyone.

the gaz shocks should be fine with standard bars, but i'd just stick with billies. Go for the b8/group n rears and like raunchz said go with faulkners on the front

to the OP

if intrested, ive been in talks with faulkner about getting some custom springs made, i'll be ordering soon

but there are discounts to be had if a few people are intrested in the same spring rating

might try and get a small group buy going

Well I'm going for looks aswell as comfortability hence why wanting group n's on the front, if I had custom springs made up at say... 180ib for a 60mm drop wouldit work better?

Might aswell invest in some new wishbones then... Want the steering to be spot on and looking at getting car finished for christmas/New Year, I might even get the track rod ends done whilst I'm there

I'll get the tappets checked etc as I like my car to have no sound coming from the engine like ticking etc, and will defo get the driveshaft sorted

Lots to buy lol, and it will be going on all at once, so won't be cheep to put everything on :(

cheers guys!

you cant get good springs made to lower a car 60mm

the 240mm length is the shortest faulkner will do to avoid the spring comming out of the strut pan

imo 60mm looks mega gay anyway.

i think you'll find it hard to get a 60mm drop with 180lb springs without getting coilovers, the spring length would need to be pretty short I would imagine and could lead to unseating issues on the road
