Does a sealant have the same principle as wax?

Copied from cyc,
Sealants simply do just that- they seal the paint from the harsh environment. Where wax is a natural substance, sealants are synthetic waxes that are formulated for long lasting and protective qualities. They contain polymers or acrylic compounds that are tough to beat and give exceptional gloss.

Cheers.. So why do people buy wax when these sealants are much cheaper?

I personally,
Use a glaze,
Sealant,
And have multiple layers of wax.
The more protection the better when you have good paintwork

Multiple layers?!?! Its too bloody expensive lol.
So would meguiars show car glaze, topped with chemical guys wet mirror finish sealant, then topped with a layer of natty's paste be good enough?

sounds like a good combo, never used the wet mirror finish but have heard good things about it. megs show car glaze is a great product. personally i would do two layers of nattys but its not essential as the second layer removes the first but the second should gaurantee 100% coverage. any more than 2 layers is a bit pointless imo.

Good choice of products imo mate.
You will only use a tiny amount of wax mate, its lasts for ages.

The pots of wax may seem expensive but they last absolute ages, Every panel on my car had three layers of purple haze and i'd say i could put about 50 coats on each panel before it was close to the pot being empty lol.

would easily last you 6 months if you wash like 3 times a week. You only need a little squirt

sealant is man made. they both protect but give a different look. some last longer than others and vice versa. wax is more warm and glossy where sealant is shiny/mirrored look.
