faulkner springs

ive seen a few people using faulkner springs, but at different Lbs springs. can someone expand on this please?
i dont want to look like an idiot by asking lol

The lb relates to how much weight is needed to compress the spring 1" and after that us the free length of the spring, eg

200lbx250mm

You'll want a lb of spring that is withing the spec of the damper, to stop the front end going bouncy. So it really depends on what front damper your running. It's also worth thinking about how the handling will change depending on how stiff you go, so you'll want to think about the size of torsion bars on the rear and dampers to match

You'll want a length of spring that remains in contact with both top and bottom spring pan when the tyre isn't in contact with the ground - is dependent on the damper shaft length as it can vary

Raunchz has got it on the head. Allot of people are not thinking about matching them to the dampers and are just buying them as pub talk. Will be useless using 200lb springs with naff apex or spax dampers.

And if you are going to use higher poundage use new torsion bars. if you carnt afford it dont do it. On any other car you wouldnt swap front springs without swapping back springs.

In my progress thread p46 I've put some specs of what the Saxo S1600 cars used (lb wise) for different terrains and the rear torsion bars they matched them to - might help as a rough guide (remembering they are hardcore rally cars!)

ah cheers guys, well im looking into having my saxo for tarmac spec. im not going to be using standards dampers, i just really need to get some insite into what parts to buy to have my saxo. many thankws for the reply though, il probably need a few peoples help off here when i get my saxo :)

Tarmac spec will be bloody hard and I wouldn't drive it on the road !! Have a ganders on this site when you've got your Saxo - some good info on here!
