IMO it is overpriced but then you'll have a gaurantee on it from the garage !!!
Where is driff? Someone on here could do it for you?
I charge around £120 in labour to do a headgasket including changing the oil, flushing coolant - it could be done for cheaper though
Isn;t too hard ot try yourself tbh with a haynes manual and a good set of tools

I'll do it for £250 including a head skim and pressure check.

£470 plus skim!!!thats well steep, just over half that inc skim and test, using Payen gasket and Gates timing belt, all work warranted.

Thats the way i roll! It's not exactly as hard as some people make out to do a headgasket, although it's hard if you don;t know what youre doing.

Do it urself man! I done this a few weeks ago (went in blindly)
went down gsf... and got myself:
head gasket
Cylinder head gasket set
set of those stretch bolts
socket bit to fit the bolts
angle tightener
oil
oil filter
haynes manual <------- most important part imo!
timing belt kit
trolley jack
(think thats all)
took me a whole weekend to do and only cost me £97

my headgasket has gone on my eastie, oil and water not mixing though so good thing i guess. But why do u need 2 change the cambelt?
saxo-parts
26th November 2009, 20:24
because its got to come off to take the head off and its false economy to put the old one back on, how gutted would you be to do the job and then have to take the head off 2 weeks down the line because the valves are bent for the want of a tenners worth of belt.
