Which is better?

I'm getting rid of my Wii and going to be replacing it with one of these but don't know much about them.

What are the pros and cons of each?

Help lol

tbh ive had and sold both, imo the xbox was better due to them being cheaper and more people online ect

KamRacing
26th November 2009, 11:32
they are pretty much the same performance wise.
Look at their exclusive games and what your friends have and go from there.
I got an xbox as all my friends have them, so we get together online every few days..

Well i could write an essay as ive had both lol

I bought the PS3 when it first came out (£450 i payed lol MUG) anyway its great

Pros are:

Bluray
Good amount of storage space
Good looks
Pretty cheap now
Good selection of games
Decent amount of features
Internet browser
Awesome graphics
free online

Cons:
sometimes you just dont get certain games that you can on the xbox
Mines now broken yellow light of death
pricey in comparison to the xbox
Online isnt great

Xbox ive just bought a month back when my ps3 packed in as all my mates have them

Pros:
Online is fantastic (You do pay for it but its well worth it)
Graphics are as good as the ps3 now due to the much needed HDMI port upgrade
Mic etc all included
The new "jasper" models that aare in shops now which i have are pretty much secure against the RROD that people talk about, due to new motherboards
Game selection is awesome
Good looks
Xbox now does sky tv for £15 a month straight to your xbox through the internet
Facebook/twitter applications

Cons:
Only real con ive found is that you cant use bluray, you can however "rent" high def films on xbox marketplace

Tbh i used to be VERY anti xbox as i had the ps3 first, but now ive got the xbox i cant see myself going back to the ps3 tbh

Hope this helps a little

after being a big playstation fan and having all them from ps1, ps2 an ps3 i bought an xbox when they first came out.. as the ps3 was not out then..

i not long bought a ps3 and too be honest i love my xbox there ONLINE.play is alot better..

if i was you i buy the Xbox:Elite but its just down to what you want out of your console xbox..

PS3 you can search the net and play blu-ray films etc..

but if you want to play online...get the xbox.. yeah ppl will say you have to pay..
but what your paying for is worth it..whats £40 a year...for a better online play

XBOX is my winner

I had both and ended up playing the Xbox more. Both are great its just the PS3 is a little more annoying. Mostly because the analogue stick on the PS3 gets annoying on some games due to its big bead zone. Also the loading time is a pain on the PS3. I was playing the terminator game on one the other day on a friends PS3 and I was ready to smash the thing. My PS3 died earlier this year so I only have the Xbox now and have no plans to get another PS3.

PS get a Wii again there great =D

i have both and xbox wins for me.

You can buy a years live for £27 quid on sites and even though it costs xbox live pwns PSN all day every day.

Do like the PS3 for blu ray etc... but xbox have confirmed they are releasing a blu ray add on.

Nothing wrong with eitehr system though

Just to add, Sky player is free if you've already got Sky at home, and the account can be linked to up to 4 computers (i'm led to believe) so if you've got Sky at home, and you take the Xbox elsewhere, you can use the same account. Good if you've got Sky at home, and you take the Xbox to uni or whatever.

PS3 for me for the simple fact it has blu ray

also has hdmi output i beleive only a certain xbox 360 has it, elite one or summit im not clued up on them

and i dont think the xbox has digital optical sound output either, could be wrong though

But the biggest reason is for gran turismo 5 :)

I have blu ray on my PC now so havent bothered to fix my ps3

All xboxs now have HDMI ports if there bought new and had them after a certain year

it does have digital output if you choose to use the component cable, you still get 1080p out of the component cables and you get the digital output i believe

Forzas quite good tbh

Basically it's Arcade vs Elite

Arcade comes with:
Console
Wireless controller
256mb memory stick
Standard AV cable

Elite comes with:
Console
Wireless controller
120gb HDD
Wired headset
Network cable
Standard AV cable

Bear in mind the 2nd disc alone on Forza 3 is 2gb...
Arcade is entry level, Elite is full fat.

Xbox elite under 200 quid now and it is a bargin.

I thought GT5 was supposed to be out this year ? Don't they keep pushing it back you might be waiting until mid/late 2010 for it

This is exactly what I would say about both consoles.

I used to be a die hard PS1 and PS2 fan and I was pretty disappointed with the PS3. Don't get me wrong its an awesome bit of kit with the features etc but they're isn't imo a big or decent enough selection of exclusives or the fact that the new consoles aren't backwards compatible.
It is a shame as It could have been awesome but it seems Sony lost they're passion with consoles and only think about making it the most high tech console around.
That is my 2p worth.

lukowski14
26th November 2009, 18:35
i prefer the PS3 for a few reasons, mostly because of tech and spec but when i got mine ( launch night ) all my mates had 360's but since they have all converted to sony

but for you it depends on a few things really, what have your friends got ? how often will you be online ? can you afford to pay for online gaming ? which exclusives are you more interested in ? and do you need blu ray ? if you consider each of them then you will make the right choice i will add though that you're really looking at a PS3 or an elite 360 because the other models don't come close i think

£250 is a bit pricey for an elite plus one game. All for a fancy box ! There's a saying up my way... One born every minute !

Nah I'd go to curry's get the 360 elite, 2 family games, 2 controllers for £179.99. Pretty sure you could pick up forza and mw2 for less that 70 for the both

Quoted straight from another forum...

My opinion is quite simple... I'd prefer to have the best products separately, rather than be a complete fail with it all built in.

I bought an XBOX because I wanted a games console.
I bought a MacBook because I wanted to watch live streaming porn / browse the internet / iTunes.
I bought a Blu Ray player because I wanted to watch movies.

PS3 all the way.

I have owned both and have would say the PS3 shits on the xbox all day long.

With the PS3 once you have bought it, you don't have to waste money on controller batteries or charging cables, also you don't have to waste money on online gaming subscriptions, oh and it plays blu-rays.

The same can't be said for the shitbox!

Only possible advantage for the xbox i can think of is the fact its slightly cheaper and has the halo series.

The uncharted series are awsome! One of the best games ever to be released IMO.

Hazmanscoop

the only reason you dont have to waste money on online subscription for ps3 is because, quite frankly, its dump....

used to take me 15 minutes to try and get a game of fifa online, and now the fact its eaten my copy of world at war and died, it has been put back in the box and wont be coming out anytime soon as none of the features it has are any use anymore lol

McGuire86

Viper
27th November 2009, 17:33
i've got both and really dont have a preference.

I much prefer the layout of the menus in the PS3 compared to the Xbox.

Xbox seems more of a community console. Although again, PSN is free and Live isn't.

Best off seeing which one has the game titles you are more likely to play and go for that one!

lemon191
27th November 2009, 18:37
go with which ever your friends have imo the games aside from a few exclusives are pretty much the same avaliability now and graphics for general play etc are pretty much the same from what ive seen.
also dont you have to pay for the wireless adapter seperatly for xbox?

i have a ps3 but all my mates have xboxs and it does get annoying not having them to play with lol but i still personaly prefere the ps3 i like the controlers more (maybe since they havent really changed so they are familier lol) and i like the easy media functions of the ps3 and the menu layout

and the online play apart from a few connection losses and abit of lagg every now and then i find its not as bad as people make out..just make sure you have a decent internet connection etc

the psn store has new stuff coming to it all the time (film renting/buying, games, themes etc etc)

VTRelite
27th November 2009, 18:50
Having owned a PS1 and a PS2 is was set on getting a PS3 but I got a 360 for my 18th and would not think of having a PS3, mainly due to the controller tbh. People who have not played xBox properly always slate the controller but I feel it fits the hand much better than the PS controllers

Hows is the PS3 better built? Ive had 2Xbox's that have both suffered from disc read errors, noisy CD trays, E74/RROD error. Both were "fixed" by Microsoft and were still shite.

The one Xbox when you shuck it rattled inside.

Comparing the product to my friends PS3, the PS3 felt so much more solid and wasnt buggy one bit.

Sony denied there was even a problem with the PS3 and was not warranting them. According to Watchdog there was apparently a inherent flour with PS3 design. The solder joints inside were to small and would fail. Watchdog fixed a few of them on TV by simply heating up the motherboard in a oven and then letting them cool again. However they tended to fail again in short time after. By the sound of thing if your moving your PS3 about a lot or letting it heat and cool a lot by constant use or putting next to window or heater would likely make it fail much sooner. Hopefully they will have fixed the new shape ones though there are already reports of them failing :S

Have to agree there! I bought the 60gb ps3 and sold it 6 months later due to lack of games and online players! Although I felt the build quality was much better than the 360, i'd still go with a 360 any day! Forget the build quality and enjoy it for about a year before it red lights lol! Jokes!
