DVD to iPod..

Basically, how do I get a DVD of my shelf to my iPod using a MacBook.
If I have Pineapple Express on DVD, how do I get that onto my iPod without having to download/buy it of iTunes.
Also I have boxsets of Family Guy, IT Crowd, etc. that I want to put on my iPod too but no clue where to start.

I believe you need to download some sort of dvd to avi converter. Google it mate :)
