i have a vts phs 1 and might need a new gear box, has any one put a 106 rallye gear box in one and how well would it go?

Makes the gearing very low in all gears. Not great for motorway work. 1st become pretty pointless at standard rev limits.

I had a S1 Rallye Box fitted last weekend. Best performance mod by far. Acceleration is so much better. Motorway driving is loud. 70mph is at 4k ish in 5th.

Have one in mine
Good when you having fun as the ratios keep you above 5k
Topped mine out at bedford autodrome on wednesday. 130 on the clocks
Only downer is motorway driving as 70mph is 4k as said :n:

I don't go above 70 anyway and won't be using it on a track often, if at all. So for that reason, they are such a good box to have. Just expensive and hard to find. I bought the S1 Rallye Pinion Shaft and Crown wheel and fitted them to my VTS box so hopefully the box is stronger than a standard Rallye one :)

Where is the best place to get a rallye box? Is there any breakers that sell them? Don't want to buy one to find i've been stitched up.

Here, 106 owners, 106 Rallye Reg, eBay etc etc
Make sure that they are a genuine seller and that the box is 100% genuine with original Rallye parts. Alot of people will try and sell a rallye box when it clearly isn't one just because they are worth alot of money. Alternatively you could buy a S1 Rallye Crown Wheel and Pinion Shaft like I did. Probs even harder to find tho tbh.

Haha will do mate. It's such a difference. Drove a fair way today and 4k at 70 didn't really bother me tbh, had music on for a bit but it does get a bit loud...

I'd expect to pay around £200 for one, but they do pop up cheaper - you want to make sure the gearbox code is correct - but then that in itself isnt 100% its a rallyebox as could have been messed about with inside - just have to gauge really whether its the right one or pull it apart to check.
