Neither, and get TomTom 1, much better!
But my personally opinion.
Garmin always seemed slow! And update slow, and just generally slow, menus confusing etc.. But my Garmin was like 1st one they ever made! So probally better nows.

reading the reviews on both sites they seem to be alot better now, tom tom seem to be out of my price range, well the ones ive seen are.
it doesnt need to be the best, aslong as it does what it says, has one got any experience with either of these two?

I think garmins personally, tom tom's seem to be a bit too high rated for what they are.
But to be honest you dont need to buy a really expensive one as they all work the same, just different brands

Tom Tom 1
Use it everyday to get to jobs via postcode or street name
Garmin are junk, Colleagues of mine have them and they dont react or give prompts aswell as the TomTom
Thats my review anyway

However
The battery life is poor on the TomTom 1
Not sure if this is with all SAT NAV's
but my TomTom one last about 2 hours max off cig charger

i got a navman sd30 in 3d. is pretty good no hassles with it. got it for £70 online special from comet and when i registered it came with free speed camera updates for the year and free 2009 map update, so basically was a real good deal in terms of not having to pay for the new map updates for more o r less 2 years.

I have a garmin Nuvi and never had a problem with it, well apart from it leading me up a wrong road for my grandads funeral making me miss the whole bloody thing.... But its easy to use and does nearly exactly what it says on the tin

Well i ended up going for the tom tom start, from halfords, comes with 1 year warranty and i think two months speed camera subscription.
very impressed with it, easy to use, took seconds to setup while in the car park and haven't had a problem since, done a couple of 30mile trips yesterday and today and it worked perfect,
id recommend it to anyone wanting a simple to use sat nav, very good for the money. :)

I have a Navman which I use the majority of days for work and has never let me down once in the 4 month of use - very hard wearing and reliable - has never got me lost so far!
And I travel all over the country atm :)

Got the Garmin nuvi 200W. Very easy to use, connects very quickly and apparently the US Army uses them ;)
