No,not facebook related

This is wheel related..wheels & the law

Got me some new rims for the Saloon today and fitted them...and then thought shit, these are some wide wheels. 8.5J fron and back to be precise :|

Now...i know there illegal as they are(pic below) but what is the actual law?

How much can poke from under the arch/arch covers?Someone said 30mm/3CM,some have said side wall+rim is fine as long as there's no tread others have said nothing, not even the rim

This is how it looks atm

Rim no more than 30mm and thread has to be under the arch.

TBH though, it just depends on the copper :n:

the rear's are fine, tyre seems to be stretched more on the dunlops compared to the yoko's on the front, all tread is under the arch on the back

I have some plastic arches that ive just taken off,so will put em on and see if i can glue them on so they sit futher down the metal arch so there a tad longer...

there is no specific law yet. its a grey area and until someone actually gets prosecuted, i doubt there will be a definite answer.

this topic is covered on edition probably once a week.

there is no way yours will be legal without some arch work or wider plastic/fibreglass/carbon fibre arches etc

personally i would just make sure the tread is covered and dont have a stupid amount of stretch on the tyres then you should be ok. camber may help you tuck them in a bit. lower it another inch or so while your at it :y:

what wheels are they?

not quite as wide as my 13x10's ;)

agreed about the scene faggots. the site is so cliquey it really gets on my tits.

are you sure they're banded?

weller makes wide steelies as standard. thats what they do. also i didnt think they made 8.5J?

£250 isnt a bad price with tyres!

i stick to here, and club polo

gonna heat up the li[p thats under the arch and pull that out now then fit the arches onto that,it'll give me an extra 10mm to play with...

no more than 20mm of poke! this can also fail your MOT.

poke include rim / sidewall / shoulder of the tyre. legal tread have to be kept in the arch.
so basically, the centre 3/4 stay in the arch...

mate they are massively wide - where did you find them!!

there are plenty of 13x10's about. mine are 3 piece splits so can be pretty much any width you like.

they have 5" dishes as they are.

you wont get much wider than 10j 13's on a road car though!

My mate done this, he put wide race wheels on his sierra and they stuck out 2cm and the rozzas pulled him up and said you cant have any tyre coming out further than the arch....... my mate questioned it and its the law because if the tyre "was to catch someone it would drap them under the car. he had to get inner tubes and fold them and screw up under the arche so it was covering the tyre. The pig said you can get an MOT but it is illegal, so work that one out?????? to be far i think it depends on what moode the plod is in at the time.......
