If you put a couple of layers on your wheels, and then 1 week later wash your wheels, do you have to re-apply the poorboys again?!

Nah, as long as you're washing them with just shampoo - solvent cleaners will strip it off.

Lasts about 4 - 6 weeks I find.

Yeah it does. I love just spraying them with water and watching it bounce off.

My wheels are the only part of my car I clean right now.

When i had my R rims i used to put 3 coats on and it would last for about 4 weeks before i gave them a good scrub and re-application.

I usually put wheel sealant on and then use Valet Pro - Bilberry Wheel Cleaner on the wheels (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/valet-pro-bilberry-wheel-cleaner-1-litre-/prod_499.html) when I come to wash the car and wheels. I then re-apply wheel sealant and then wax to them after :y:

But the thing is i clean my wheels at least once, maybe twice a week. so dont want to be re-doing sealent everytime, as i have 16 spokes on each wheel, and 4 wheels to do! will take hours re-sealing twice a week!! haha
may be easy for your vts wheels to rub some sealent over :P

Is a good point mate lol. I clean mine at least once a week so maybe i'm wasting wheel sealant. Seems to last forever in the tub though so I think thats why I keep re-applying it! That product that I put the link for above is shit hot though.

yeahh, i just rinse the wheels with water, spray with AG wheel cleaner, leave it 5 mins or so then wash the wheel with meguiars body shampoo and then rinse off with water :y: but i have lots of small black dots over the wheels i cant get off, like in between each spoke. so maybe bilberry would get rid of that.

isnt that where brake dust has burnt into the coating on the wheel?

P90PTS
8th December 2009, 14:50
The above picture is an image of "pitting" in an alloy. There is no real way of fully removing this other than a wheel refurb, some have tried claying and diluted brick cleaner on it but to no avail.

Hazmanscoop
8th December 2009, 14:55
ah awful :(

NICK2506
8th December 2009, 15:32
its not as bad as in that picture, is just a few specks.

P90PTS
8th December 2009, 15:33
Well some clay, elbow grease and a acid based cleaner (dont leave to dwell) should have the wee specks off no bother.

Hazmanscoop
8th December 2009, 15:36
surely if your regularly waxing then you shouldnt get those pits?

P90PTS
8th December 2009, 15:37
Depends. Pitting is when the brake dust builds up and becomes embedded within the alloy.

Hazmanscoop
8th December 2009, 15:39
yeah i knew that, so basically regular cleaning will do the job, or expensive pads that dont give off dust

P90PTS
8th December 2009, 15:41
Basically keeping on top of your wheels! How hard is it to go out once/twice a week, spray on some billberry or Tesco Daisy APC quick scrub and rinse? Then every 3-5 weeks apply sealant?

JRC1
8th December 2009, 15:41
I may be wrong but i'd be suprised if bilberry wheel cleaner didn't remove the marks on that wheel above. Especially if you don't dilute it much. As said above, it is really strong stuff.

P90PTS

Bilberry didnt work on those wheels.

heres a recent pic of one of my alloys that has the black specks on it, and you can hardly see them. nothing like the wheel you posted. just needs some strong cleaner and elbow grease on mine i think:

Try some aggressive clay mate, should lift all the shit off them, then give them a blast with your wheel cleaner or bilberry and a good fucking scrub!, Re-seal and you should be laughing.

P.S Nice wheels ;)

and yeahh, never sealed them, but gunna order some this week and wash them well and seal them :y: ideally want to take each wheel off and do the inside, but its hassle!! lol

I re-ordered wheel sealant from polished bliss yesterday whilst doing a mega order for the new car

Have a look at this Saves you paying 6 quid for delivery from CYC (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Poorboys-Wheel-Sealant-MUST-HAVE_W0QQitemZ110455574993QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca rsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item19b7aa51d1#h t_500wt_956)

You should really get some good sealant on the wheels as it is winter, salt and shit on the roads = bad alloys.

If you clean the wheels and seal them then you wont get the break dust sticking.

Billyberry left for a while then agitated left again and rinsed off then repeated should take care of any marks failing this claying and APC will do the trick.

Hazmanscoop
8th December 2009, 16:18
nah he sold it with gloss black speedlines on i think and sold the wheels to someone else and tbh there not that bright

i just like the orange and black and have already started colour coding things to the theme so pointless backing out now ;)
