just a query.

so has anyone drilled out the centres on VTR rims to put centre caps in and be able to get them balanced up properly?

they can stil be balanced properly, its just a pain in the arse to do, as you need to set up the Machine differently...

i would imagine drilling the centre out would ofset the wheels in balance anyway! making them difficult if not impossible to balance! depending how good your cutting skills are.

also would make the wheel weaker, possible leading to flexing and such of the alloy?

I have a balancer at work but we dont have the attatchment for it and beside 1 in every 500 cars or so will only have solid centres.

Well I won't do it myself because as you said drilling in won't be easy, So it'll be sent to me local engineering shop for them to do.

I can't see it weakening the wheel as 98% of wheels have holes in the middle for centre caps.

if u only want caps made up why not just get some vinyl made to what u want, or ebay do caps that stick on centres to look like caps?

Sounds like alot of effort when you could get them done for about £4 a wheel at other tyre places

x2.

I considered giving my wheels to my engineering mate to lathe but then finding caps to cover them etc, wasn't worth the hasstle. Just take them to a garage which does solid wheels. for the number of times you'll need them doing it's the easier option.
