I'm in the middle of refurbishing my Punto Steel Wheels. I spent from 9 am, till 8pm trying to get all the rust off with a rotary drill.

I've applied primer, top coats. I'm going contrast y0.

Anyway, never ever sprayed in my life, shook the spray can violently for 3 or 4 minutes to ensure it doesn't come out like water, and ahhhh, it dribbles and leaves a nice run.

Been looking on the internet to see how much shot blasting would cost (If i were to do it again) and tips and tricks to get rid of 'Over spray?'

a quick google search leads me to:

Corsa B Forum
All Corsa.com
Honda Civic Forum
corsasport.co.uk

Seriously, 3/4 are Corsa sites FFS! Really annoys me when you see them taking the piss out of you cos you have a Punto, but seems these people are most likely to take the cheap option and spray steelies?? (Oh, one corsa forum said not to worry about sanding off old paint or rust, just get some wheel cleaner LMAO, then key the surface. WTF?? I spent 10 hours with a drill, still not puka)

what have you got over-spray on???

If its on bodywork or something similar then get an agressive clay kit.

Also being to close to the item your spraying can cause it. You need to be like 300mm away atleast imo and use nice light coats as opposed to 1 thick coat.

I've got the wheels off, on the floor in the garage, with the door shut (feel rather high lol)

No paint on car or anything, so not to worry. Its a run then.

I put my finger in it, scooped it up and re-touched up the area. As good as new, i think James would be very impressed lol.

I'm holding 300mm away, the can gets used sooooooo quickly.. 2 cans of Halfrods Puto White, at £8.99 each :panic:

It's only been that wheel. Practice makes perfect. I'll upload some pictures.

Would you have any idea the sort of price for steel wheels to be shot blasted (With Tyres Off)

I wouldn't want to have them powdered coated, i'd re-spray my next set.

Probably £20 but ima baker, call a powdercoaters or a shot blasters specifically as sometimes powdercoaters dont do it inhouse

Well it's possible to get wheels shot blasted and powdercoated for as little as like £25 per wheel so doubt shot blasting costs much

Wow, very good. Doesn't take long though dose it at all.

FAO James. Are normal spray can paints watery? I have Halfords own and gave it a vigorous shake for about 3 minutes, Sprayed it for a second or 2 in the air, turned it upside down and spray a second or 2 again and shock it again for 30 seconds then started spraying.

It sits on the primer like water. runs very very easily. Holding it 30mm away and applying a even, thn coat. Whats happening?
