always good to have a second opinion. altho it wud b unthinkable to have the job done by the manufacturer, try takin it to peugeot for a 2nd opinion, at least they shud tell u exactly whats wrong.

inverted clutch? that could mean 1 of 2 things to me, either the release bearing part of the diafram spring (clutch cover) most common on the 406 hdi and they are abit expensive and can be an arsehole to do.... espically if that person hasnt done one before!?

or it could be that the clutch sits inside the the flywheel (inverted) rather than flat against the flywheel.. then it would be a dual-mass floating flywheel.. most hdi's have this setup..

clutch kit is about £80-£100
labour is about £140 - £170
total is £220 - £270 +vat which would work out about £260 - £320 including vat
