i have just bought my first saxo vtr on an s registration being told it had popped a drive shaft got it towed home after purchase took the driveshafts off both seem to be fine what was happening was when engaging gear and relasing the clutch all that can be heard is a clattering noise that gets worse when revs are applied

my thoughts are gearbox or clutch plate ?

anyone experienced anything like this before ?

if it does turn out to be a gearbox can this only be taken off a vtr or can any model fit etc ?

any help greatfully appreciated
cheers kev

defo sounds like either clutch or gearbox. my other car made the same horrid noises but i couldnt tell you which it was, as both the clutch AND gearbox went... i think any saxo gearbox will fit but i will let somebody else answer with a bit more knowledge of what difference it will make:y:

yes mate that happend to me you try and put it in gear lift the clutch put the your foot down the car dont move and has a weird sound like somethin spinin but not movin with me it was the gearbox! so im pretty sure urs is aswell!

its betta to put a vtr box coz the shift drives are different on smaller ones! the only box id say to put it a vtr in a vts! but even that aint the best choice! but yea u can put and gearbox i i belive!

Would be wise, replace the clutch when you fit a new box just to be sure
